From White Sox.com: (No this isn't the entire story...)

Negative vibes: The word "choke" has been attached to numerous media accounts of the White Sox one-time immensely safe lead in the American League Central shrinking to 2 1/2 games entering Tuesday night. Both the local and national media have focused more on the South Siders' shortcomings than the incredible run put together by Cleveland since the start of August.

While the White Sox seem frustrated by the depiction, especially with a chance to win 96 or 97 games in 2005, there is an equal part of amusement coming from the players.

"It would be nice to open a newspaper one day and see someone write an article that this team is still good and still has a chance," catcher A.J. Pierzynski said. "It makes me laugh, personally, because they don't know what's going on. They're not here every day."

"We've been good this long and we are still in first place and people are talking about us choking and us stinking," added Politte with a laugh. "But we really just have to worry about ourselves."

Guillen added that he received 545 e-mails from fans on Tuesday alone, with most of them being supportive and hopeful.

Ozzie said in the post game there was no way he's gonna lose the division with 30,000 people helping him (manage the Sox)

In response to the recent deluge of media coverage of the White Sox

F.E.S.P.N.

...and all their "experts"

They don't dictate who wins and loses.

That happens on the field.

I've been so sick of the media outlets over the past week. Nothing but huge stories about collapses and negatives about the Sox. Stick it up your ass ESPN, we are going to win the division and nothing you say is going to change that.

Did anyone see the FSN Ohio coverage last night?

It was good to hear the commentators acknowledge that if the Indians win it won't be a Sox choke job, it would be that the Sox cooled at the same time the Indians went red hot (even though they have a vested interest in holding this opinion).

.500 ball is not a choke job, and never will be.

Anyway, its all irrelevant 'cos we're gonna clinch the division in game 1 of the final regular season series at Jacobs Field.

Hey Everyone .......... dont get so upset that the media were calling this for what it was.......a great choke job. But whatever, what I call the Media out for was they werent there to give the SOX positive buzz, instead focusing on that other team thats currently in 5th place 8miles north.
as for the possibility of a clincher ............ After Cleveland leaves here, they will win their remaining 7 games with TB & KC. The SOX must win tonite to counter-act this ........ WE CANNOT SPLIT WITH DET & MINNY before then ....

:?:

How is a 3.5-game lead and the best record in the AL a "choke job"? Choking would require the Sox to miss the playoffs or at least lose the division. Neither of these things have happened yet and neither is likely to happen. The Sox would have to go on an extended losing streak, which is extremely unlikely, especially since they're 11-8 in September, won 3 of their last 5 against their top division rivals, and are about to play 4 games each against Minny (lost 5 of their last 6) and Detroit (lost 6 in a row).

It's a fact that the Sox have not choked. The extensive reports of their choking is just the latest example of pervasive anti-Sox bias.

"I'm not impressed by your
psychic powers."

KC has a 3-game winning streak. Tampa has won 3 of their last 5, including a big victory against the Red Cubs on Monday. The Rays are 4-3 v. Cleveland this year.

Tsk tsk....
Of all people to fall for the media BS portrayal, I wouldn't have figured you to give them one shred of credibility, Hangar.

Falling off from .750 ball to .500 is hardly a choke. Going 3-12 down the stretch - that's a choke.
