This is a response from a poster on an Iowa Hawkeyes website I frequent, "proving" he's a real Cubs fan:

I watched every single loss during the 0-13 start in 1997.

I've watched the tape of Kerry Wood's 20 strikeout game over a dozen times.

I own a copy of "The Boys of Zimmer", an 80-minute documentary of the 1989 season.

Kyle Farnsworth vs the Reds is my favorite baseball fight of all time. Randy Myers vs the Stupid Fan is my third favorite. (Nolan Ryan vs Robin Ventura takes #2.)

I saw "Taking Care Of Business" just because Mark Grace was in the trailer.

I've gone to Wrigley in the dead of winter, just because.

I've sat next to Ronnie Woo Woo.

I've watched them since I was in 3rd grade.

I get the internet every summer just so I can listen to Cubs games. Then I cancel it once the season ends. (Or so I used to...I think I'll keep it this year.)

The only team I hate more than the Cardinals is the White Sox.

But I at least respect the Cards. They're a good team.

The White Sox, however, have only one good player: Mark Buehrle. And MAYBE Paul Konerko.

I am indeed a Cubs fan.

Here are some more brilliant comments on the Sox from this same jag-off. This was to support his assertion that the Sox have ZERO "good" position players:

I'll grant you that Dye and Iguchi are decent. DECENT. But not all-stars. You've got to be in the top 50 players before I'll say they are worthy of praise.

I can't believe you asked if Scott Podsednik is good. No, he is not. He is horrible. Neifi Perez is better than Scott Podsednik. He is fast, and that is the one single good quiality he has going for him. Or to put it this way: Jackie-Joyner Kersee would have been in Podsednik's league, assuming she could bunt her way on 20% of the time.

MLB rank, in Value Over Replacement Player (http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/sortable/index.php?cid=603) (VORP) for Position Players:

So he pays to listen to a team that is broadcasted for free on WGN, nationwide?
Nice.

Good thing his VORP All Star Team is once again playing meaningless games in September.

Isn't that the definition of a Cubs fan?

He didn't bother posting this:

14. Jon Garland 47.0
15. Mark Buehrle 46.2
26. Freddy Garcia 39.2
41. Jose Contreras 33.8

We have 4 of the best starters in baseball and they have 1 who will be joining Prior and Wood on the DL in the years to come.

What a tool.
