Everything is fine ... everything is fine ... everything is fine.

This mantra is for the benefit of the huddled masses who follow the Chicago White Sox (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/chw/) and are trying not to panic, even as they gape at the daily standings in the way brokers stare at the ticker during a stock market collapse. The White Sox have led the American League Central every moment this season, including by 15 games as late as Aug. 1. But now the margin has nearly vanished, like shrimp at a cocktail party. And what opponent should be in town but the Cleveland Indians (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/cle/), who are suddenly fogging the Sox rear-view mirror. With Monday's 7-5 win, the Indians are 2 1/2 games behind, close enough to hear the White Sox gag, should they.

Does anyone find it funny that a lot of the media outside of this city/state is more positive, objective and un-biased when compared to Chicagos own print media? It's like Marriotti and The Peanut Gallery want this team to choke so they wont feel bad about their beloved Cub teams. Simply amazing. Oh yeah, on an unrelated note, I so very much dislike Jeff Brantely.

I agree. Mariotti is so obsessed with this team losing, it's ridiculous. :mad: He's been COMPLETELY against this team since day 1. He may have wrote about 10 articles on the Sox all season long and about 9 of those have been a rip on the team. Take your pick--> Attendance, Hawk Harrelson, Fans attacking players(happened years ago btw and was a CUB FAN!), the ugly ballpark, chicago being a Cubs town, Reinsdorf, Kenny, Ozzie Guillen, blah blah blah..

I mean what the hell is this guy's problem? Does Sox management owe him money or something?!

Mariotti needs the Sox to either win the world series or not make the playoffs. Either way he has a big story to write about. If the Sox were to win the World
Series, my guess is that Mariotti would use the triumph to bash the Cubs for failing to accomplish what the White Sox did with "fewer fans" an "unfriendly ballmall" and a "cheap owner."
