I didn't see a thread on this anywhere, so I figured that I would relay this.

The Score reports that McCarthy will start Thursday.

I think El Duque just needs a break. He's gettn up there. With a couple starts off, that may get him into postseason bullpen-duty shape.

I like the way Hermanson and now El Duque are accepting their 'demotions'. They are the correct, obvious moves and no waves are being made. That attitude will go a long way with the team.

to get ONE start for El Duque. Jenks yes, Marte NO - Cotts is needed in that role.

They may be seeing what McCarthy does and commit to a second start but maybe Ozzie promised El Duque he will only be skipped once and we all know how Ozzie fears disappointing El Duque.

Marte? Oh no.

Ozzie was clueless about pitching when he hit and now he's clueless about pitching when he manages. Our starters pitched so well in the first half that Ozzie didn't have to make many moves, but now he's being exposed.

McCarthy needed to start in Garcia's place vs. Cleveland.

I thought McCarthy was going to pitch on Monday. Garcia gives up way too many first innning runs. and CLRO1 is Correct, Ozz is Clueless when it comes to his pitchers

I agree with Hanger that Ozzie is clueless on his pitchers. Letting starters go 5 innings even if they give up 6 or 7 runs is disgusting. It's like he wants all of them to get their incentives. Marte should have been pulled after the walk. Why not Pollite to pitch to the right hander. Just bad managing. Lets get them tonight:whiner:

Why not Pollite to pitch to the right hander. Just bad managing.

Because Viktor Martinez is a switch hitter, and hits much better from the left side, off of right handed pitching.

It sure is easy being an Arm-Chair Manager.

Took out El Duque and inserted BMac as a starter when he will be up against Johan Santana on Thursday. Oh well, at least we have a chance, which we would not if El Duque was pitching.

I'm sure many people will disagree with me and my logic, but it's my opinion and I don't care. The problem with facing Santana is scoring runs, in our case, it sometimes is getting a hit! I don't like playing not to lose, but I think a game against Santana is one of the least winnable games on the schedule, so you throw your worst pitcher out there and hope for something special and then have your better pitchers for when there is a better chance of winning, like any other game against Minnesota or a Cleveland game.

Can we make a tag for "Throw Strikes" or "Hit the Ball" or "Don't Make Errors" ??? I think the best new tag would be "Don't Blame Ozzie"

I'm amazed, and stunned. Marte, who lost yesterday's game and looked terrible doing it, as a closer. Of what, the Sox pennant hopes?

My first reaction, when Guillen was named manager, was one of disappointment due to his lack of experience. His gung-ho style had won me over. But this decision brings back the disappointment. I'm starting to question his decision-making when it comes to pitching.

He's definitely a step up from the guy he replaced, but sometimes his choices alarm me.

The bottom line like someone said is the players aren't performing. And you really can't blame the manager for that, although they always do.

The manager has to put his team in a position to succeed. When he's going to put you worst bullpen arm(not including the callups) into close and yes he's worse then viz right now, he's not doing his job. I always knew he was a terrible in game manager but I thought atleast the way he motivated the players and had them playing for him that he was doing something right. Problem is his stupidity managing the damn team during the damn game has just become unbearable and pathetic.
