White Sox by far. If you have a 15 game lead on Aug 1 and blow it.............That's monumental. :o:

The Indians need to win these games more than the White Sox do. They are the ones looking up in the standings.

No. The Indians basically HAVE to win AT LEAST 4 of 6 from the Sox. Not doing so will turn their entire focus to the wild card. Even if the Sox were to lose all 6 to the Indians, all they have to do it beat the Yankees by 1 game down the stretch. Much much much better to be in the position the Sox are in.

The Indians need to win these games more than the White Sox do. They are the ones looking up in the standings. I understand that. But if the Sox miss the playoffs it will be all over sportscenter. Where if the Tribe lose it, no big deal. There is much higher expectations on the Sox after what they did in the 1st half............ 15 game lead on Aug 1!!

Who the **** cares about Sportscenter?

Also, most people have not noticed that the Indians' current pace is actually a few games better than when the Sox ripped off a ton of wins in their season opening streak. And yet the Sox still have a good lead with 2 weeks left.

Well I would agree with that if the question were "Who would it be more devestating for to miss the playoffs?". But, the Indians are under more pressure to win these next 3 games than the White Sox.

Everyone's acting like the Tribe is guaranteed for the ALCS. They are just barely ahead of the Yankees for the Wild Card. They may not even make the playoffs.

The Sox will not miss the playoffs. They have the best ****ing record in the American League. The worst they could do right now is lose the division and get the wilcard. They have 90 wins. Since the start of the wildcard has any team with 90+ wins missed the playoffs?

Someone mentioned earlier that the magic number of wins seems to be 93 as only one team has won more than 93 games (the Reds I think in a season I cannot remember) and not made the playoffs.

Gotta be even... The Sox some say, the media, are on the verge of a monumental choke job. The Indians don't even have a playoff spot secure yet. Neither do we though

True, but of everyone in the league we are the closest to having one secure.

Didn't you know that style points and certain other things are worth 10 games in the standings adjustment of October 3, 2005?

Like the quote from "Diner"....Sinatra or Mathis? The answer is Presley.

The team with the pressure is: The Yankees....they are currently on the outside looking in.

Other than pride and home field....the difference between the Division and the Wild Card is close to meaningless. I hope we win the Division....but as long as we're playing on October...I'm happy.

These polls are dumb. At least when they don't accurately reflect the opinions of the membership.

The White Sox are in first place. How is the pressure on them?

Being remembered for the biggest collapse in baseball history for starters.

Teams have come back from 15 down, but no team has blown more than a 10 1/2 game lead.

But they won 2 grinder games in Minneapolis so maybe they snapping out of it.

the Sox in my eye have not blown anything, the Indians have just played WAY WAY over their heads.

In theory, it should be the Cleveland Indians playing under pressure. The Indians should be the ones tightening up under the pressure, losing 2 of 3 to a bad KC team, They should be the ones that cant score runs, cant hit a ball out of the infield, soiling under the pressure. The Indians should be the ones seeing the clock ticking, knowing we lead the division still, The Indians should be the ones making baserunning gaffes. The Indians should be the ones getting the bases loaded with nobody out, and failing to get the ball out of the infield, or striking out 3 times consecutively. They are the ones that should be under immense pressure. But unfortuneately, its been the other way around

The fact is that the White Sox only have to go .500 the rest of the way to clinch a playoff spot. The Indians have to go .750 to clinch a playoff spot based on the loss column.

The Indians "magic number" to win the division is 18 (I don't care about the wildcard), with 13 games left to play. I know that 6 of those 13 games are against us but that is still pretty tough.

That is incorrect.

The Sox have to feel the pressure. They have had no consistent offense for almost two months and have shown they can't win when the other team scores first. Also other the Sox, the Indians have a steady diet of the Devil Rays and the Royals and are peaking right now. The Sox have the Twins and Tigers. Neither team is great but they give the Sox troubles as the four runs scored in three games this weekend indicate.

The dynamics of this can change real fast if the Sox score 6 or 7 runs and win game one. I don't worry about playing any team right now, even the hot Indians. The Sox biggest opponets are themselves, especially an offense that has not come through with a big hit lately. Send Kevin Millwood to an early shower tonight and I will feel much better.

I say the Indians because if the Sox play .500 the rest of the way, the Indians can only afford 2-3 at the most if they want to tie the Sox.

Sox: Tribe:
5-9= 95-67 8-5= 95-67
6-8= 96-66 9-4= 96-66
7-7= 97-65 10-3= 97-65
8-6= 98-64 11-2= 98-64
9-5= 99-63 12-1= 99-63
10-4= 100-62 13-0= 100-62
