"Upper Box" and "Upper Reserved" are now based on row number instead of distance from the plate, if Ticketmaster's seating chart is to be believed.

That makes me kind of nervous--when I sent in my Ozzie Plan order, I went with Reserved, figuring I'd get a lower row. Does anyone know if TM's chart is accurate?

TM is really annoying. I had to put in the word verification ten times before it let me through. THe server is still better than tickets.com

Here's my experience..

I first got through at 12:03, getting 2 tickets for game 3 in section 154, Row 27, but I released those hoping I might be better off getting a single. So I went back, waited approximately 4 minutes, and got through with a single to game 2 and 3.. the one for game three was better so I bought it. So, all in all, I ended up with one ticket, for game 3, section 112, row 8. I'm content!

I clicked in as soon as 12 hit and I had to wait in line for 5 minutes and then got the worst seats in the park - 552 row 18. Happy I got tickets, but a little bummed that I hit it hard and got stuck with these seats.

This system totally sucks. Like most of the other fans on this site I have been to many games this year (17-8). I was not able to get tickets online and would have been happy to camp out and wait - with the real fans. Instead, we have no way of getting tickets. Reinsdorf is taking a dump on all of us. We support the team all year and then get the shaft when the real fun starts.

Game 1: 2 LD individual seats (my brother had trouble getting 4 and was bounced around in the line a few times - he ended up getting 1 individual as did I)
I managed to get games 2 and 3, and 1 ticket for game 1, while my brother only got the ticket for game 1. Oh well, I'm happy to have tickets. Not much I can do. As for games two and three, my seats are below.
Game 2: Section 156, Row 16
Game 3: Section 157, Row 16

I got 4 tickets for Game 1 right away...Prior to noon, i opened up an IE window and a Firefox window, logged into my ticketmaster account on both, then went to the sox site and followed through to the TM Game 1 pages. Kept refreshing the page in both browsers, and then as soon noon hit and thed rop downs were available I clicked 4 Best Available...entered the word, and went straight to these tickets: Sec 155 Row 27...that works.

Then tried to go and get tickets for Games 2 and 3, without luck, and with an insane amount of Ticketmaster Internal Server Errors and other error messages. Just reading through this thread and seeing how many people encountered those (esp the ones where it made them lose tickets) is ridiculous. How can TM's systems be in such bad shape for a major event like this? Absolutely ridiculous. I'm sorry for those of you who got screwed by those errors. It' inexcusable on TM's part, and I'd at least send them angry emails and such.

I know this is unrealistic, but there should be some way to reward fans who attend regular season games, I have gone to eighteen games this year and got garbage for the playoffs. While on Stubhub there are whole rows available for sale. Maybe some way to redeem your receipts or ticket stubs.

I would get a season ticket plan but I cannot yet afford it so I go to mainly Monday and Tuesday games. Man does this rub. But I guess I would rather be pissed about not getting playoff tickets, than not be in the playoffs.

Scalpers have their "ins" with Ticketmaster....

One source of "grey market" tickets has always been the box office of the Boston Bruins. Ticketmaster bought their system "Next Ticket" but as part of the deal allowed certain purchases to continue ..... been going on for years.

They should have cut into the scalpers' margins via higher face prices. I'm sure they all would have still sold all the UD tickets at $45-55. It might mean that some fans only buy one game instead of two, but it would have been worth it for everyone that got shut out.

The Yankees to their credit ALWAYS allow a lineup at Yankee Stadium with wristbands and allocates a good chunk of the seats to box office sales only.

This is due to greed on the White Sox / Ticketmaster parts. The White Sox do not have to pay for ticket sellers, security when tickets are not offered at the park. Plus they get a cut of the Ticketmaster fees $5 per ticket, $10 per order and Ticketmaster makes good coin as well.

I hope the Ticketmaster contract ends at some point. I have bought tickets for many teams and most use baseball's own service tickets.com or whatever it is called - their fees are more reasonable than Ticketmaster. The Yankees use Ticketmaster but it is good they offer seats to the general public in person so true fans can purchase tickets (though they have 20,000 more seats though they do have many more season ticket holders).

IIRC the 13 game plan allowed you 1 game to the first series. Only the full season plan allowed a buyer to buy a ticket for each playoff game (Around $3,000 per seat) which is beyond the means of most people.

I would rather tickets be sold in person so the true fan can make the effort and get the seats as opposed to Stubhub / Scalper types who eat up a majority of the tickets via the internet sale.

Scalpers have their "ins" with Ticketmaster....

One source of "grey market" tickets has always been the box office of the Boston Bruins. Ticketmaster bought their system "Next Ticket" but as part of the deal allowed certain purchases to continue ..... been going on for years.

I knew people who worked for Ticketmaster and they were always able to get many tickets before they went on sale. This is how scalpers get the tickets. The Cubs box office had many of their own agents scalp tickets in the day but the Cubune got rid of them. Didn't have a White Sox contact through the years :(: .

so this royally sucks, but with a friend from virginia beach alright having booked his flight, i need to buy from stubhub.com.

Worse, they do not sell 3 together. everything is 2-4. So if anyone wants to pick up the 4th, its going to be about 120-150 bucks, im me at rvboards52 on aol im asap. I am not ordering without the 4th, so if anyone was looking for a single and willing to pay the hefty price, im me if you could

For my money anyone who camps out in the South Bronx deserves a medal

I have to assume that all teams will be switching to tickets.com since MLB bought them :(:

Virtual Waiting Room is the worst kind of hell

Hey, I didn't get a damn thing either - I'm just saying.

The guy said he's been to 25 games this year. If you're going to 25 games a year, buy a plan. That way you'll at least get a shot at playoff tickets. I've been to 15 games , and go to around 20 every year, but i prefer to not use the ticket plans because I can't always know if I will be available to go on a certain date. I've had to eat tickets when I used the plans in the past when something came up.

If you've been to 25 games this season, you should have bought one of the small ticket plans (13 games, etc.) which would have assured you of getting playoff tickets. Your bad.

What if you have a job that doesn't allow you to pick 13 specific games?

I've been to 28 without a season ticket plan because on most nights, I don't know if I can go until after 5.

Why don't you just buy 4 and sell the 1 on Ebay or something other than StubHub?

thats the fall back plan

however, with prices soaring on ebay, I wanted to offer the ticket to any interested WSI member at the 129.99 price I paid, so they arent payin 200 bucks for the same ticket in 2 weeks

Will they, or have they offered SRO tickets for the playoff games?

I really want to go.

I forgot about these, I once emailed Brooks (shock) about this for regular season games and he told me it was day of the game/at the park and only if the game is sold out, but I have no clue if these are available for playoffs. The best bet may be to email Brooks but I'm not going to do it because I've bothered him too much this year!

I heard you get to roam the OF concourse or get some area in the concourse, I think that'd be sweet, I don't mind watching the game from there and the Cell has a great concourse.

Some teams have indefinite contracts with Ticketmaster as long as they stay in their current facility. That is why some teams (White Sox, Yankees, maybe a few others) still have Ticketmaster - The last contract determines the terms. I am sure the Yankees will go Ticket.com or their own system when their new stadium is built. The White Sox may be the last Ticketmaster team in MLB. Figures.

My wife is at home with our new baby and called to say that she got some tickets for the third game. I hadn't planned on trying to get tickets and she doesn't really like baseball anyway. What a nice surprise! They are in the upper tank and unfortunetly, not together. Still, nice to know I have some tickets locked up.

I made the mistake by reloading to much the seconds before noon. I was then barred from the ticketmaster system and that I was only allowed to use it in "several minutes".

Luckily I was at the job and I just hijacked someone elses computer. After trying to get a pair of tix for game one and two, and being completely denied, I went the single ticket route. I was able to get Sec. 537 row 3 for game 2. Luckily I didn't give up on game 1, and about 12:20, I was able to get a single lower box ticket in Sec. 111 row 28.

Relieved I got a ticket a game, but damn ticket bastard. I wasn't too optomistic in the first place, I knew it was going to be a fiasco. But damn them for not selling tickets at the box office.

The Sox switched to Tickets.com a few years ago. The system was terrible, so they switched back to Ticketmaster. Maybe the lesser of two evils.

I got in right at noon and got 2 seats in 110, row 9 for Game 1.
Got put in the waiting room for game 3 and ended up with sec 527, row 14.
Had no luck on game 2, because I had another browser open for that game and got booted.

With firefox you were able to have 3 tabs open, as long as it was for different games.

This and another poster pointed the Sox actually switched to Tickets.com and then back. I can't believe it. I have ordered tickets from several different Tickets.com sites (Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Cubs, Cardinals, Twins, Reds, Royals, Red Sox) and have never had a problem nor were their fees as high as ticketmaster.

Maybe these teams switching back (including the White Sox) get more ticket fees via the Ticketmaster deal - hence this is why they charge us more.

MLB bought Tickets.com in 2005 and I am surprised MLB is not encouraging / forcing teams to move to MLB's own site.

I got shafted as well. The guy who sits across from me got into the site for game 2 about 3 seconds after I did. We both went for 3 tickets, he got tickets in section 102 row 11, my browser kept refreshing and the wait time got higher and then it came up and told me no tickets were available. I did not do the multiple browser window option because I knew from past experience that would screw me. I got screwed anyway so maybe I should have tried that.

Then game 3 will be away, correct? So if my dad bought game 3 tickets, the game won't be at the Cell, or does that mean the tickets are for the "if necessary" game?

Edit: I have that question answered, but what happens if the game doesn't need to be played. Will we be refunded?
