One of the few times I'll ever be rooting for the A's. This is a good pitching matchup, as it's Danny Haren v. C.C. Crappyhatia. Just underway.

Oh boy, am I ever rooting for the A's. Besides the obvious, I have Haren on my Fantasy team. GO A's!!!

As an aside (0-0, bottom 2, 0 hits for either team), Tigers players are starting to realize that they suck. Good times.

Indians host any tiebreak scenario according to MLB. (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050912&content_id=1206791&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb)
Let's thank the coin they used for that one.

EDIT:
A's get on the board thanks to Jason Kendall; 1-0 A's. Marco Scutaro stole a base to get it going.

:fobbgod:
I am totally firing Scutaro. Nobody steals bases around these parts unless you have an 80% success rate!

EDIT2 (I'm really holding off on post 1000!):
End of 4, 1-1-0 Oakland, 0-2-0 Cleveland
Haren 69 pitches, 4.0IP, 2 BB
Crappyhatidea 56 pitches, 4.0IP, 3 BB

And we STILL have a four-game series left with them in Detroit in two weeks. That's gonna really help. We have Detroit's number big time, and they won't do squat against us (they didn't even have ONE lead in the entire four-game series at Comiskey the weekend before last).

Somewhere, a sweater vest wearing Eric Zorn is seeing this game's result and pouting. (That is, if he was aware there were baseball games tonight, and not in bed already so he can be up early for tommorrow's guest appearance with Mary Schmitt on the Eric & Kathy show to talk about their favorite things: espresso machines, and the exciting new season of Desperate Housewives.)

Has anyone noticed (besides stolen bases of course) that the A's and White Sox are VERY similar? The A's have an edge offensively over us, with more runs, hits, walks. We have way more HRs and SBs.

Pitching wise the A's and the sox are pretty much interchangeable, ranked 3rd and 4th. It's tough to compare b/c the ballparks, I would give our pitching an edge over theirs.

We are also ranked very similarly on defense.

I think that all the talk of a curse of the A's is nonsense. The Sox and the A's are practically the same team, depending heavliy on pitching and defense to make up for meager offense.

Just a random observation from a fan of both teams.

Kinda funny, late in the season and games become crucial the A's steal a base and attempt a sac bunt. I thought these were all no-no's, as baseball played by BB.
