I think he would be the perfect fit for the Sox. He's going to be an expensive free agent but I think he'd be worth every penny. Adding a pure (contact) hitter with some power would be awesome. Plus he's a very good 3rd baseman.

I don't know about others on this board, but Bill Mueller
is far too injury prone, old and ouchy for me.

In 2003 he played 146 games. In 2004 he played 110. This year he's played in 129 already. That's pretty good. Ozzie doesn't play his starters anymore than that any way.

2004 White Sox

Paul Konerko: 155 games
Willie Harris: 129
Joe Crede: 144
Valentin: 125 (was on the DL for awhile)
Carlos Lee: 153
Aaron Rowand: 140

Ozzie does play regulars. And he plays them more than 129 games.

I wouldn't mind him, also the last few years he has shown a willingness to try other positions. I noticed he's played 2nd a few times. I don't know how much I would be willing to pay for him but if he would be available at a reasonable price he would be worth having on a roster.

He wants to play closer to home and Chicago certainly fits the bill. Red Sox are high on Youklis so he there for the taking.

Instead of saying "injury prone", why don't you have a look at the actual injuries he's sufferred. That one where he slid into the wall when with the Cubs was an absolute freak injury. Missed a lot of time for that one...

Agreed, but he's still a little too long in the tooth for me.

Old Bill Mueller at least knows how to swing a bat and get some hits and get on base. He'd be an improvement over young Joe Crede. (Just as a pure comparison, not factoring in salaries, etc.)
