This team is starting to remind me of 1983 by getting ready to have a 20 - 10 September!!

Does anybody by chance know the breakdown of W/L in each month for the 1983 White Sox. I believe in May or June they were really under .500, but were extremely hot in September.

GO SOX!!!!!!!!!

So much for the theory of getting hot in September carrying over into the playoffs.:(:

Wow. It wasn't until Game 69 on June 25th against the Twins that the Sox went above .500. I think this team would kick the behinds of the '83 any day.

As hot as this year's team was in the first half they still weren't as good (record-wise) as the 83 team was in the second half...

The 1983 Sox did not get above .500 at any time between April 20 (6-6) and June 22 (33-33). (They were 6-5 on April 19.)

Their longest winning streak was eight games (Sept. 5-13). They simply avoided prolonged losing streaks during the second half. Their last three-game losing streak was July 14-16. Their last two-game losing streak was August 25-26.

They finished the season with a 24-6 record! Between Sept. 5 and Sept. 25, they were 18-2! After Sept. 4, they only lost four games. :o:

Talk about firing on all cylinders.

Granted, I wasn't born until September of 1983, but looking at the Orioles' splits that year (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BAL/1983_sched.shtml), it's not like they coasted into October, either; something like 59-31 in their last 90 games of the season.

As Frater posted, the sox were running on all cyliders going into the play-offs, then Kittle went down, offense was damaged.
