Do they ever learn ? This morning in the Tribune, there's an article mentioning that Todd Walker is now upset with the announcers for the Cardinals. Todd feels that they made comments during yesterday's game that made Tony LaRussa look like a genious, at the expense of Johnny Baker. Deja vu all over again, as Yogi would say. Memo to Todd Walker: Yo....Todd... It's September 6, and your team is 5 games under .500. That's because you guys are overrated, play stupid baseball, and basically, just suck. Oh, and by the way, your manager IS an idiot. For the second year in a row, quit worrying about what announcers are saying (for your team, or the opposition). Also, just wondering, have you made your tee times yet for October 4 ?

Nope, IWC, they watch the games on live television! Mike North today talked about how when the Flubs are at bat, the players hang out in the clubhouse watching television. He was very critical of Baker for allowing this because the players' heads are not in the game, hence the missed signals in yesterday's game and the general lousy play this season.

Baker is a piece of art. He really is. I was thinking about how Ozzie would react if a player strolled off to watch Oprah during the game and I realized his reaction would be no different that the reaction of all of the other managers in MLB except for Baker. I would pull the guy out of the game and give him three days to catch up with General Hospital and All My Children.

The Flubs: a real class act.

Wow. That's unbelievable.

I think Ozzie would get on the players for being in the clubhouse period. They should be on the bench cheering for their teammates.

No kidding. It just cracks me up that, last year, they were all bent out of shape because of what their own announcers were saying. They went so far as to confront them on the plane rides, and CALL THE BOOTH DURING A GAME. Now, they're bitching about THE OTHER TEAM'S announcers. I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it. I hope they keep Johnny Baker for a long time. Watching this team choke again and again, and point fingers in every direction is something I won't grow tired of.

North said this morning that McPhail is happy with both Baker and Hendry and they will both probably get extensions through 2008.

There are some powerful mind-altering drugs in the Flubs' front office.

Actually, I bet the Trib Co. loves Baker and McPhail. They sell out all the tickets, so revenues are at a maximum level, why change the chemistry? Gotta love corporate ownership of pro sports teams.

Maybe if they would stay on the bench and watch the game they wouldn't suck so bad.

Then again, wasn't there a story about Greg Luzinski? When he was a designated hitter, he would go into the clubhouse between at bats to watch his swing on tape, but one day somebody caught him watching a cooking show!

If it wasn't for Bonds & Balco, this guy would have been out of baseball in the 1990s. Every cloud has a silver lining.

Who says LaRussa ISN'T a genius anyway? You don't need Dusty Baker chewing on a tooth pick and spitting all over the place to point see that. Not only is LaRussa a very smart manager, he's also got something Dusty has never, and will never have: Class.

Let's recall this famous quote: "I like fact that we play so many day games; Hispanics and African Americans play better during the day anyway."
What a gem.

Let the Cubs whine about announcers' comments all they want; it won't change the fact that their team is being managed by nothing more than a clueless little boy.

This is why I made a post a week or so ago about why I didn't want Walker joining the White Sox. Just play baseball and stop worrying about what the announcers are saying. I guess if he did happen to join the Sox, at least he wouldn't have to worry about Hawk and DJ saying anything negative, you can't argue over silence and worn out catch phrases.

Doesn't Jason Giambi supposedly sit in the clubhouse watching porn while the game is going on ? (allegedly)

They would sell-out all their tickets regardless of the product on the field - and that is one of the many pathetic characteristics of cub fans. The Trib Co. should keep the payroll at a minimum so they can make even more money! Why pay for gold when the lemmings will buy tin.
