They way it's looking the Sox have a chance to clinch at home, maybe against the Indians, but if they clinch in Minnesota or KC is anyone planning on going on a road trip? In 2000 I remember plenty of Sox fans traveling to the Metrodome to see the the SOX.

I'll be in France probably. Won't know until the next morning. Nice to be in France. Not nice to miss the clincher.

I'll be in MN 16th-18th for the games, but I agree that is seems more likely that it's going to happen here in Chicago. If so, I'll be there too. It would be great if they were able to do it in front of the hometown crowd.

My brother and I will be in Minnesota for the games on the 17th and 18th.

Got tickets for the 19th game against the Indians. So hoping that's the game.

Assuming that the Sox and Indians both continue to win 2/3 in each series (and the Sox take 2 of 3 against Cleveland at home) the Sox will clinch at home against the Twins sometime between the 22nd and the 24th.

I'll be in Minnesota for the game on the 16th and maybe the 17th too, but it looks like the clincher will be the next week at home. So once the magic number hits 1 or 2 I'm heading to the next game no matter what... and if they don't clinch that game then I'll be at the next game... and so on. I was too young in 1983, I remember watching 1993 on tv, and I was back at college in 2000 so I'm not missing out on this year!

They should clinch in that 7 game home stretch at the end of September (9/19 - 9/25) I just hope they do it by winning their game this year.

I'll be at the 9/19 game so I hope they pull it off, but it's not likely to come that early.

I've had an ax to grind with Lawton ever since he beat us in 2000 with his game winning HR in the 10th, forcing us to clinch off the field.

If we meet up with the Yankees in the playoffs, I hope he keeps his butt on the bench!

I have tickets for 9/24 and 9/25. As I stated many times before, when I picked those dates in January I was hoping to see the clincher. It looks like it may happen. :D:

My guess is they will clinch sometime during the homestand of September 19 to 25th. I already have tickets to 3 of those games but I definately will be there whichever day it happens. I was there in 1983, 1993, and even in Minnesota in 2000. If it means going to Detroit on September 26, 27, or 28th, I will go there too. Let's hope it happens at home!:supernana:

I'm going to Minnie 9/18 for the sunday game, but that seems a little early. I'm going 9/19 and 9/21 vs. CLE (21st is a possibility) and 9/25 v. MIN (hope we wrap it up before then).

I'll definitely bring my digital camera to all.

Well, I have had some tough luck with the clincher business. In '83, I was 8 years old, and my dad got tickets to the game before the clincher from his work. I missed the clincher by 1 night.

Ditto 93. We had a partial s/t plan and had tickets the day preceding the clinch (double header if i remember correctly), and they clinched the following day.

In 2000, I was at a wedding, but it was on the road anyway, so whatever.

The point is, I have tickets for Thursday the 22nd and Sunday the 25th. If history holds true to form, they will clinch on either the 23rd or 26th . . . the day after I attend a game. My advice to you all is to utilize this info and plan accordingly.

I'm really hoping the 19th. I'm glad I picked that game cuase it's on WCIU and would not have seen it if in fact they clinch on this date. If it's not the 19th, I will not be in attendence.

I'm bummed. :(: I was there in 93, there in 2000. This year I live in Knoxville, TN and can't even get the Sox on TV. Anyone willing to make me a VHS or DVD copy of the game???? Please????? If anyone would be so kind, my email is mrwag74@yahoo.com. I'll pay for the shipping and a blank tape/DVD.

I'm going the 19th. If I see the clincher, this will be the greatest year for me as far as going to Sox games. I was at opening day, I saw the return of Frank Thomas, Timo's walk off base hit, Crede's 3 run homer to put the Sox ahead of the Tigers, and Ozzie's tantrum against the Blue Jays :D:.

Side note...Crede's 3 run shot followed by Uribe's solo shot was one of my top 5 experiences ever at Sox park. The place was insane.

Because the twins and gophers have home games that day, the twins game starts at like 10:00 am. With the rules of mlb saying that no other games can be televised while a national tv game is on, games with starting times that overlap the national slot do not get shown on tv.

As a KU student, I'll be at the games in Kansas City. Theres basically no possible way they clinch by then, but I can hope.

You forgot the teal, right?

First of all, its only winning the division ... Is that so special that we need to make complete fools of ourselves?

And, havent the Sox had some sort of problem with people running on the field in the past few years? I think they have

But seriously, if you want to, I'd personally love to see it ...

Have Fun!

Do you understand the concept that:

a.) That was the Western Division title and put us within 3 wins of the World Series (Best 3 of 5 ALCS), while the AL Central title would put us 7 wins from the World Series.

b.) That was the first title in Chicago of any kind since the Bears had won the Pro Football Championship in '63.

c.) That was 22 years ago. Times change. Seeing 25,000 completely destroy the field after a World Series or Pennant was the norm back in the 70's. Times have changed, and I'm sort of glad about that. It's nice to let the players celebrate on the field after a big win without having to fear for their lives.

In all seriousness, I would love it if they did it at home, I think we all would. Oh yeah, and winning the game would be nice too. I can't stop thinking about a sold out game, final out, and the celebration on the field for a 2005 division championship.

I had a horrible thought earlier tonight. September 20 is Parent Night at the school I teach at from 7-9p! :o: As far as I see it, the Sox have two choices- clinch it on the 19th (or sooner) so I can watch and celebrate, not having to worry about meeting parents, or they can save the clinch for the 21st when I'm there so I can witness my first ever Sox clinch in person. I choose the latter of the two. :bandance:

Actually, as the Computer teacher, I don't have to make a presentation to a classroom full of parents, since I have 500 students. I just have to be in my classroom with my door open and ready to meet parents at any given time within the two hours.

I'll have my little radio underneath one of my desks and will just lower the volume when someone comes in to meet me.

I sure hope it happens at home, i have great tickets for the final weekend but also made sure i bought 2 tickets for the 19th (either a clincher or welcoming home the division champs) then i was fortunate to get a raise at work so i went ahead and bought at least one ticket to the remaining games of that homestand. I would hate to be there when they are playing the tribe and they lose monday and win tuesday  I also told work already if they clinch at home dont expect me there the next day as i will be in the bullpen sports bar following what should be an unforgettable night :bandance:

I took the Wife and my little girl to the game. I am not real clear but either Lawton or the batter in front of him got about six strikes in his at bat, bad home plate ump.
It was fun to see konerko run the bases with a beer in one hand, and a cigar in the other!
