I noticed on the wall to the right of the White Sox dugout and down by the on deck circle, there is a # 17 placed there? Was this in honor of Double Duty Radcliffe who recently died?
Anybody here know what this is in reference to? Thanks.

It could be. Or it could be for 1917; or for where they want the magic number to be when they get back from Boston.

It is for Carrasquel. He wore #17 for the Sox, worked for several years as a Sox announcer and passed away earlier this summer. That's when the 17 memorials were put up.

Thank you for your help and quick response to my question. Mystery solved.
R.I.P. Alfonso, you were a great player from what the old time Sox fans told me back when I was growing up. You paved the way for future Venezuelan Shortstops to follow.
Most noticeably, my all time favorite player Luis Aparicio.
...and now it's our Magic # :redneck

I thought it was a promotion for the new season of "24" with a lower budget.

Wasn't he called "Slappy"? Or is that why it's in teal?

Nah, I just screwed it up. I got Spanky Lavailliere mixed up with Slappy Caruso, even though there is nothing remotely similar between the two.

MS - The original Spanky.
