I was blue, just as blue as I could be
Ev'ry day was a cloudy day for me
Then good luck came a-knocking at my door
Skies were gray but they're not gray anymore

Blue skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see

Bluebirds
Singing a song
Nothing but bluebirds
All day long

Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my how they fly

Blue days
All of them gone
Nothing but blue skies
From now on

I used to think maybe you loved me, now baby I'm sure
And I just can't wait til the day, when you knock on my door
Now everytime I go for the mailbox, gotta hold myself down
Cause I just can't wait till you write me, you're comin' around

Now I'm walking on sunshine (whoa oh)
I'm walking on sunshine (whoa oh)
I'm walking on sunshine (whoa oh)
And don't it feel good, hey, all right now, and don't it feel good, hey, yeah

I used to think maybe you loved me, now I know that it's true
And I don't wanna spend my whole life, just a waitin' for you
Now I don't want you back for the weekend, not back for a day, no-no-no
I said baby I just want you back, and I want you to stay

Oh yeah...Now I'm walking on sunshine (whoa oh)
I'm walking on sunshine (whoa oh)

Good to see the offense bust out again. Kudos to AJ, Jermaine, Juan, and Willie. Jose ran out of gas, but pitched well nonetheless.

The best part has to be the Jndjan fans watching this game, getting a little hope in the 7th and 8th innings, and then just staring in disbelief at the hit parade in the bottom of the 8th.

Another solid effort by Jose tonight. I'm not too big of a Contreas fan, but, like other posters have said before, he has been the most consistant of our starters as of late. It's also nice to see an 18-hit performance. Here's for hoping for two in a row tomorrow. :gulp:

In the past after having a big game like tonight, SOP for the Sox was to get shut out on a 3-4 hitter. It hasn't happened all that much this year, and it sure as hell ain't gonna happen against the Kittens. This is a precursor of what we're going to do to the AL Central in September.

An absolutely fabulous and much needed win! :bandance: Over his last 5 starts, Contreras has been dominant and probably his biggest accomplishment over the last 3 of those starts has been NO WALKS!

Podsednik looks like Podsednik circa April, May, & June and he couldn't have arrived at a batter time! I thought maybe the guy had his first HR of the season, but a great catch was made at the wall.

The offense not only showed signs of a pulse, but it downright came back to life. Pierzynski seems to own Jason Johnson- a .500 record against him going into tonight's game- and it was so needed. While there were a handful of homeruns hit, the smart ball also reared its face in this game, and it was a welcome sight. "I luuv offensive onslaughts!"

Let's keep the ball rolling and go get 'em tomorrow! :bandance: :gulp:

According to Wikipedia, U.S. copyright length is as follows:

"28 or 95 years for works copyrighted 1923-1963; 95 years for works copyrighted 1964-1977; thereafter life plus 70 years. (Copyrights prior to 1923 have expired.)"

Nope. The corporate interests have dominated Congress's approach to copyright law, and they've been all too obliging to keep extending copyright protections beyond the creator's natural life. Disney/Mickey Mouse is a huge reason for this.

I've put out CDs by bands who have covered Robert Johnson songs, and even though he's been dead since 1938, I've had to pay mechanical royalties to the publishing company that works with the Robert Johnson Estate.

That was a nice game to be at. The 8th inning was the best, and I can't say enough for Uribe's patience at the plate tonight. He hasn't been "slappy" lately, and that's making me feel a lot better when seeing him step up to the plate.

I owe apologies to JC. He's our most reliable starter lately. He's finally not beating himself, as Ozzie indicated postgame.

We're winning the ALC by 10 games.

Are you kidding? PHG has this sucka on a clustered server farm with real-time application replication, data synchronization and hardware failover....

I hear that server farm is located on the tropical island he bought last winter. :?:

I was blue, just as blue as I could be
Ev'ry day was a cloudy day for me
Then good luck came a-knocking at my door
Skies were gray but they're not gray anymore

Blue skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see

Bluebirds
Singing a song
Nothing but bluebirds
All day long

Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my how they fly

Blue days
All of them gone
Nothing but blue skies
From now on

:D:

Ah... what a lovely synchronistic event. You posted these lyrics and a couple of friends of mine that are a couple came into the bar last nite and told me that they chose this song as their official song for their upcoming wedding.

What a great treat to come home and find the lyrics posted on WSI after hearing the news. Thank you very much.

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
She's gone much too long
Any time she goes away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away

I know
She's gone to stay
It's breakin' me up
Anytime she goes away
Gotta leave the young thing alone
There ain't no sunshine when she's gone

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she's gone much too long
Any time she goes away

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
I wonder if she's gone to stay
There ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't a home
Any time she goes away

I know
She's gone to stay
It's breaking me up
Any time she goes away
Gotta leave the young thing alone
There ain't no sunshine when she's gone

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
I wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Any time she goes away
Any time she goes away

What is the name of this song and who sings it?

I hear it on the radio all the time and I've always liked it but have never known who it is...

Bill Withers wrote it and it appears his is the version that everyone knows well, but it has been covered by many groups...

I have been told that music is public domain after twenty five years, with a token paid to the songwriter in the case of resale.

Some of the copyrights on Scott Joplin's music didn't lapse until the '70s or '80s. Irving Berlin was well known for keeping up the copyrights on some of his earliest and most obscure work. I know for certain in the old days after the 28 year copyright, the publisher had a right to renew for the same length of time. That changed in the '60s, I think when a longer copyright time was added.
