Jose Valentin said he would consider retiring unless he is offered a major league contract during the off-season. He has a one-year deal with the Dodgers for $3.5 million and does not expect them to re-sign him.

Well, someone will take him for sure, but not for that money. He can still hit home runs.

With that mustache he should be able to sign on with someone in the porn industry.

If there is room for Christian Guzman on an MLB roster there must be room for Valentin.

I'm telling you...if he would take a paycut I seriously would want Jose back on the Sox as a pinch hitter. He has power from the left side, and we all know how great he is in clutch situations. He just can't think he's going to start.

I'll take him over Timo any day.

.177 hitter with 2 homeruns. People would be crazy giving him a guaranteed contract. Look at his numbers. His average decreases every season. He was a pretty good player when the Sox first acquired him, but has deteriorated to the point where he probably should just go home.

I know, Timo is the enemy. He's just SO horrible that he has a spot on the roster of the best team in the AL...:?:

Even though I'm a Timo supporter, I would take Jose over Timo. Better base runner, better clutch hitter, more power, switch hitter. Only drawback is his defensive skills...but then again I doubt he'd spend much time in the field.

Didn't he have 20 strike outs in a Game one time? Maybe the Cubs will take him?

I would want Jose back solely for the reason that he is a clutch hitter, and we need a clutch hitter. I would love to see him back in a Sox jersey.

I'd want him back, as the Sox hitting coach.

He'll have to earn a spot next year but if Jose Hernandez can still find work I'm sure Jose Valentin should be able to.

No Jose Valentin is NOT better than Timo Perez! Timo's batting average is about 50 points higher and he isn't terrible at defense like Valentin! Valentin has shown no power this year with his 2 homeruns in 130 at bats. To have power you first have to make contact with the ball to have something to show for it.

I don't want this guy near a White Sox roster ever again.

He's finished. Let Tampa Bay sign him.
