If the Cubs somehow manage to win two straight, their Pollyanna fans will proclaim the Cubs back in the Wild Card hunt.

However, they've been out of it for quite some time. I understand that their band of septuagenarians are now playing this song (http://tinyurl.com/29m6u) outside The Shrine.

They should just start playing it on opening day.

LOL, let's go down the timeline, according to Chicago media.

End of 03, Flubs screwed out of World Series, even though everyone with a soul wanted to see them there.

Going into 2004: No doubt that they will it all. The only thing to worry about is Houston who got Clemens and Pettite, but they can't fight the powerful Cub machine. St. Louis predicted to have the biggest down fall, not getting into the playoffs the previous year and making moves that didn't make top news on ESPN.

Mid 2004: Cardinals already run away with it. Flubs should be fine to win the Wild Card because of pitching and getting to play the NL Central bottom feeders.

End 2004: Cubs don't even finish second, focus made on how the White Sox failures. Cubs get a free pass due to injury and it being a winning season, even though the White Sox lost Maggs and Thomas in the most important stretch of the year. More focus on announcers and stadium and surrounding atmosphere.

Going into 2005: Everything will fall right for the Flubs. Cardinals can't run away with it again, and Houston gets older and loses key offensive players. White Sox? Posedwho?

Mid 2005: Flubs with no need to worry. Wild Card will be easy with the only competitors being the NL East who will beat each other up and getting to pick on NL Central bottomfeeders. White Sox? Overrated, beating up on bad teams. Ha! Look at that attendance!

Going down the stretch 2005: Flubs out of it due to injury, turns out the teams that were supposed to beating each other up are beating up on the Cubs! Focus now on why the Sox won't get out of the 1st round of the playoffs, if they will even make it, and their weak offense, and why White Sox fans worry more about the Cubs, making up stories of all the fans chanting 'Cubs suck' down the ramp. Score and SBC Yahoo start separate Cubs/Cardinals promotions for the thrilling rivalry.
Baseball season in the city of Chicago, Yikes!

"This is all in your imagination. There is no bias against the White Sox and towards the Cubs by any or the Chicago media, especially the Chicago Tribune. And anyway, it's justified because there are just more Cubs fans than Sox fans."

A Cub fan friend of mine told me last Monday that there was no way the White Sox would make the playoffs, and the Cubs were a lock for the wild card. Then yesterday said he was ready to concede the Cubs out of the wild card race, but said it was a lock if the Sox made the playoffs they would be swept in the first round. If you have ever been to the Urinal during game days, its amazing almost every stand outside the park prominently displays Sox Suck shirts. I thought Cub fans don't care about the Sox.

I thought Cub fans don't care about the Sox.They just don't want us to win because they know that we'll rub it in as hard as it comes. If we don't, they'll make fun of us and just ignore us again. Let's rub it in!
