...the White Sox have now exceeded the win total that I projected for them
in the "predictions for 2005" thread. I called for 74. I won't bore anyone by
expounding on the reasons I did so, I just want to put this up to say mea
culpa.  And I'm relieved that "the streak" is finally over.

They've already won more than most "experts" had picked too.

Reminds of Farmer saying a week ago that "The White Sox were picked by many to win 72 games this year, and they were right." :gulp:

Which means you have more honesty and integrity than about 99.9% of the "experts" in the sports media.

Aren't most baseball picks made in February? I know that's when the annuals put out thier stuff.

Something tells me that in the back of your mind, during the streak, you feared you may have actually been dead-on correct?

I guess in retrospect I can see why the win predictions were so low. Garland, El Duke and Contreras were question marks. They've proven everybody wrong. However, the bullpen was strong on paper. I'm going to say this too; this year is only the beginning.

Funny you should write that because I was originally going to post this after
they won their 74th game: "to fulfill my preseason prediction, they would now
have to go 0-49!" But I decided to hold off until win number 75 passed it up.
Had I put it up then, I know I would've been sweating sheets.:D:

I said 90-95 was possible. They just needed to win more games against Detroit (and the AL West).

At least they're doing something I asked.
