I know that this may be strictly taboo to do at this point, but here I go anyway.

Who thinks that they can predict the game that the Sox clinch this thng?
Perhaps this should be done like a PTC thread. I don't know. Any ideas out there?

There's been a few threads about the clinching date already...a board search should help.

When the magic # hits zero, then they should clinch.

Let's just hope Cleveland wins the coin toss for the play-in game and we play on the road.

After losing six in a row, Konerko's back going out, Podsednik on the DL and Crede hitting like my little sister...

Are you joking?:?:

You couldn't have picked a worse time to ask this question.

Please a little tact.

Here is a site paid for by the US Government in 1996 which calculates the "Clinch Number" which is better than the "Magic Number" or at least that is what the Government sponsored study conducted at Cal Berkley says.

This thread needs to be locked down in the ****house. We are hurting right now and have more immediate concerns on our minds.

Wow, that site is ridiculous. It treats adding and subtracting like rocket science, and the explains it in a way that makes no real sense. Did these guys get hired by Baseball Prospectus? Well actually, maybe not, because in that case the Clinch Number would be called the C%opr-N and there would have been stats with numbers like 93.7/42 and 0.003256 instead of 36 and 8 or whatever normal numbers they use.

I am trying to find out how much the (ONR) Office of Naval Research & (NSF) National Science Foundation gave U Cal Berkeley to pay for this and what lawmakers are responsible - These grants was given in 1997.

This project is made possible by Professor Dorit S. Hochbaum's ONR research grant N00014-91-J-1241 and NSF Award DMI-9713482

WHEN will the Sox clinch? Wrong question.

The question should be... WILL the Sox clinch?

Before we talk about clinching, how about the Sox scoring more than one run in a game?

3,4,or 5 will be just fine with me.Whenever the hitters want to
get back to doing whatever it was that got the Sox to 20,30,40,
50,60 and 70 wins before any other team in the A.L.,i'd appreciate
it.This is getting ridiculous.
