Check out the article on-line at Slate. http://slate.msn.com/id/2124605/?nav=fo
Interesting. Unfortunately, it contains some "myths" (i.e. The Cell is a horrible place to see a game, etc.), although it is allegedly written by a White Sox fan. Some good points, though. Enjoy.

Well, all I can say is....he tried.
I suppose that's the only kind of thing that can get published on a site like Slate. Is he being fair, or is this just more 'damage control'? I'm wary of any article about Sox fans' attitude that doesn't mention the media.
"So, why doesn't mawkishness gain any traction in White Sox Nation?
For one, because there is no White Sox Nation. Most ChiSox fans live on the South Side of Chicago, the south suburbs, and northwest Indiana, my childhood home; without a diaspora, it's impossible for the team's woes to spread very far.
No, it's more like: mawkishness makes a lot of money for some people, and I think Sox fans have a more realistic view about how things are spun. But don't expect any mainstream media to tell you that this year, or any year.
