Chisox just signed him and assigned him to Charlotte. I assume this is the same Jim Bullinger who pitched for the Cubs ages ago?

Why am I seeing flashes of Jose Paniagua?

Does Bullinger have playoff experience or something?

I guess I was a little slow.

I hope that wasn't the main reason to sign the guy... hell, Reggie Jackson has playoff experience - should we give him a call?

Doesn't seem like he has anymore playoff experience than anyone on the roster now. I would love to know why we signed him.

For the life of me, I can't understand why they signed him. With so little time left in the minor league season and the fact that we are NOWHERE close to making any other playoffs, this seems crazy. I'm afraid to say it, but there has to be some other motive to this. When his brother Kirk was down about a month ago, he said that Jim was talking to the White Sox then and would probably sign with them. I thought he was crazy, but obviously not. I would hate for him to take the spot of one of the other players, such as Gload.

I never thought I'd say it, but I'd rather have Michael Jordan back than him...

Sounds like they are doing him a favor...

Yeah, something similar to the signing of Jeremy Giambi earlier this year. It probably has nothing to do with the major league team at all.

Please, please be some sort of stunt...

Thank you for being the voice of reason.

It's pretty obvious that the White Sox have no intentions of calling Bullinger up, yet everyone is panicking.

Geez.

When Hank Allen needed a little extra time in the Majors to qualify for his pension, the Sox put him on the 25 man roster as a favor to his brother, Dick.
He was basically used as a bullpen catcher.

Maybe a similar situation?

The only thing I remember about Bullinger is he had very large ears. At least I think I remember that about him. That could have been someone else. Oh, I also remember he's bad.

Trade him to Boston for a prospect. They already have Jeremi Gonzalez and Remlinger and must be enamored with Cub retreads.

The guy played with the Expos and the Cubs. Do you even think for a second he would have playoff experience? :?:

Maybe they will scrap him for parts...Frank needs an ankle and Dustin needs a new back. :o:

Yeah, that's him. I remember watching a cub game in 91 where he came in for relief and hit a 3-run homer.

He could be replacing a pitcher that we might be trading to the Reds for Griffey, real soon.

Bullinger probably has some blackmail pictures of either Reinsdorf or Kenny Williams or Both!

Maybe we'll be calling up a reliever like Baj or someone (to replace Adkins) and Bullinger will fill in. Maybe he will help with some players developing. Maybe someone is right about the trade of a reliever and he's just going to fill in. I think the Knights are out of the playoff run...maybe? so he could just hold a spot in the pen for mop up duty if we needed a reliever. These are the only thoughts I had.

I'm glad we didn't get Griffey.
