Lots of White Sox games @ Yankee Stadium over the years....Seaver's 300th win, Fisk/Sanders battle, Fisks "tags 2", last night's win....what is your #1 memory from a White Sox game at Yankee Stadium?

Mine: Summer of 1984....Sox split DH at Yankee Stadium....there on a road trip with friends our first summer out of school. Luzinski went deep. Very cool video tribute to Thurman Munson.

I'm a pretty young man (23), so I can honestly say last night's Conteras "stick it to the ol' team" outing will be quite a fond memory of this season and for awhile.

There seems to be a new one every year:
2003 - Roger Clemens served up a Big Hurt grand slam off the foul pole as part of an 8-run inning.
2004 - Buehrle totally shut down the Yanks' offense, including striking out A-Rod with the bases loaded to end an inning.
2005 - Last night. Need I say more...?

Incidentally, I also had tickets for the Sox/Yankees game on September 12th, 2001. As we all know that game (and all other pro sports for that week) were postponed, and unfortunately I was not able to make the game on its rescheduled date. I think the fact that we had already lost the division contributed to my lack of willingness to make that trip...

My Cub fan mom spent 3 years living in New Jersey and in 2000, right before she was set to move back to Chicago, she finally got tickets to a Yankee game... hosting the White Sox. A discussion was held and I was able to convince her that the only appropriate wardrobe for the game was one that displayed silver and black. The Sox won, she finally got to see Yankee stadium in person (which in her defense, she's always wanted to do) her reaction the next day was "Good Guys Wear Black".

How about Valentin's grand slam off of El Duque on Father's Day, 2000 to propel the Sox to a road-trip sweep of Yankees and Indians?

1983 - three-game sweep in August, went to the first two games, Sox win the first 1-0 behind Britt Burns and game two behind Dotson.

That's definately mine too. Salome Barojas made his major league debut in the 2nd game and pitched 3 scoreless innings to save the game. There's nothing quite like winning on Opening Day, but winning TWO?! What a way to start a season!

Two involving Carlton Fisk:

1. 8/2/85, Carlton Fisk tagged out Bobby Meacham & then Dale Berra at HP one after the other (http://members.tripod.com/bb_catchers/catchers/doubletag2.htm (http://members.tripod.com/bb_catchers/catchers/doubletag2.htm))

2. 1989 or '90 after Deion Sanders didn't run out a grounder & at his next AB fisk told him "if you don't play it right, I'm going to kick your ass right here in Yankee Stadium." (http://espn.go.com/page2/s/halberstam/010515.html)

New Favorite:

When we beat them twice in less than 24 hours on Contreras and Garcis's great pitching, Konerko's 9th inning homer, Uribe's 10th inning slide into home and Rowand's gold glove EVERYWHERE...on the way to the 2005 World Series.

I'd have to say 9 runs off our very own El Duque in the first inning of the finale of a four game sweep in 2000. That was just orgasmic.

You named mine. The following night's game at the Cell was crazy fun.

Those are also my favorites, along with Seaver's 300th win.

How about Valentin's grand slam off of El Duque on Father's Day, 2000 to propel the Sox to a road-trip sweep of Yankees and Indians? As a 20-something, this is my favorite moment as well. I still vividly remember Jose jogging around the bases after that homer. What a week that was.

May 16, 1953 - Sox pitcher Tommy Byrne who beat the Yankees the day before, came off the bench to belt a 9th inning, pinch hit Grand Slam to give the Sox a 5-3 win.

It's the only time in Sox history a pitcher hit a pinch hit grand slam.

Unfortunately mine was starting Neal Cotts at Yankee Stadium instead of Mark Buerhle. It was at that point when I became 100% convinced that Jerry Manuel worked secretly for the Twins and was trying to throw the season.

That's mine also. In fact, I took my dad, a life-long Yankees fan, to that game for his first ever trip to Yankee stadium. We both got what we wanted for Father's Day. :bandance:

And then we lost both games.

Sat. 1984, Tom Seaver wins his 300th game before a sold out stadium. This very day the yankmees are honoring Phil Rizzuto. At the mike Rizzuto says, "Not today Seaver, not today". Seaver was warming up in the bull pen.
Harold makes a game saving catch, but also bangs his knee into the wall, the beginning of Harold's knee problems.
