Ok-- I'll be completely straight with you; Geoff Blum, as an individual, as a ballplayer, or as someone I'd be trying to nickname, has never, for one second, crossed my mind as an individual.
But since this "low-impact" trade (I'm quoting all of sports media, all of my friends, everyone at the bar, and myself there), I'm starting to become a big fan of his defense, and I'm starting to get a sense of how lucky the White Sox were to acquire this guy.

But, that's besides the point. We need a nickname for him. I've heard "Blumie" (also spelled "Blummy"), which is nice in a Candyland kind of way, but I was hoping that, if we really put our heads together on this, we might be able to hammer out something more appropriate.

Thanks,
Wormy.

P.S.
Karko! Karko! Karko!

By the way, and I know this isn't the forum for this, but I can't find the one that would be-- how would I got about getting my username changed? This whole Wormwood thing was a poorly planned decision.

Thanks.

Re register.

Changing a username is a pain in the ass.

Don't do it. Wormwood is a cool name. You drink Absinthe?

I've heard "Blumie" (also spelled "Blummy")No!!!!

Only the Flubs and A's have to have every player with a "y" or "ie" nickname. Leave that crap for the "cute" teams.

Blum Pudding?
The Hoodblum?
I'm still leaning towards Blummy.

(And in response to the absinthe question; ya. I enjoy a snifter of the ol' green fairy from time to time, but I'm much more of a Hamm's man, when it comes down to it.)

Not bad at all! It's a nice south-side name, too!

(which led me to the idea: Blumkowski?)

Paulie, Hermie. Its only two.

Blum doesn't need a nickname, just like Joe Crede doesn't need a nickname. We can just call him GB.

Please, no "Blummie." I side with FWC on the scourge of the "ie/ey" nickname fetish ever present with the Baby Bears.

How about "The Blumlord"? That's all I can come up with.

Geoff hasn't been around long enough to make an impression on me, nick-wise. But that may not be true of everyone else -----

I've ever played with. Period."

How about B-Rod?

Or G-Rod, or G-Blum? Or G-Unit?

Seriously, I got nothing.

And Crede's official unofficial nickname is 'the Comet.'

Cue the pic.

I say we should call him Cree, since he's another Joe Crede minus the 'D.'

Don't forget the Seattle Mariners -- their announcers referred to Brett Boone as "Boonie" during their telecasts vs. the Sox in April.

I almost threw up when I heard it.

It's a South East Side thing too. Everybody I knew growing up was one of these names; Mikey, Bobby, Frankie, Nicky, Jimmy, Danny, Marky, Petey, Georgy, Herkie, Milan, Goran, Vlado, Dusan or FiFi.
