Ok, I was at the game yesterday (8/7) and saw the Fisk dedication and really appreciated it. He gave us plenty of great memories while he was here. When I read the card they handed out to us as we entered the park, I then realized just how great those memories were. According the stats the Sox passed out, Fisk's 1983 numbers included the following nuggets:

138 games, 488 at-bats, 851 runs, 46 walks, 42 triples. Wow. I guess I was so caught up with the ENTIRE 1983 team that I did not notice Fisk redefined the term "carrying the team" that year (not to mention some mathematical rules). When you consider that Fisk had 1,276 runs and 47 triples in his entire career, you must admit, 1983 was an extremely special year for him!

Just wondering if anyone else caught that. Looks like the runs and triples were probably the team stats for 1983.

Damn, nice catch. I didn't catch it myself. I will look at when I get home.

haha, i noticed that as well. There were more mistakes though. I dont have my card with me, but in one of his last years they have it listed that he had something like 20 at bats with 10 hits...but was batting .150 ?

My friends just kept telling me I was the only one who would notice such things. Oh well.

They show him having 10 hits in 25 at bats in 25 games in 1993, his final year. They claim his battinge average was .189, not .400 as I calculate 10 hits on 25 at bats....

Another error, per baseballreference.com, he had 53 ABs. It was very painful to watch him that year.

Since the Nike swooosh is on the card, I'll blame them and not the White Sox for the sloppy facts.

Fisk was the man. 6 runs per game scored by himself. a triple once every three games.

They should've gotten him a bigger statue.

You are looking at the wrong year. He had 53 at bats in 1993. They are talking about 1983.
