Hello all, I was just wondering since tonight is Elvis night is anyone dressing up? I'm wearing my full white jump suit complete with cape and belt that I got in Gatlinburg, TN last year at the Elvis Museum. I bough it specifically for tonight. Anyone else going tonight? Anyone else dressing up? Anyone doing anything special?

I'll be there. I think this is my 5th Elvis nite in a row. Sadly I won't be joining you in the full jump suit attire. I was just saying last nite that if I had it, I'd wear it. Maybe next year.

I'll be lookin' for ya.

I wanted to go but didn't get my tickets in advance. I think it's sold out because I'm getting absolutely nothing on the Ticketmaster website.

My fault for waiting :whiner:

Speaking of "Dressing Up", let me tell you about one of the most surreal moments I've ever experienced in my entire life. I could live to be ninety years old and be sitting in some rocking chair wearing diapers and not remembering my own name, but I will never forget this...

There was this one guy that used to frequent the bar I manage that's in some sort of hardcore/punk/speed metal/rahr rahr rahr band [I call it "rahr rahr rahr" because every lyric sounds like they're just growling rahr rahr rahr into the microphone]. He kept coming into my bar and pestering the living hell out of me to come see his band. So finally I did.

They played at this little bar on Irving Park Rd. just east of Ashland called El Gato Negro. Oh man is this place ever a treat. It's a Mexican transvestite bar that was showing extremely hardcore straight pornography on the TV, and there was about 8-10 extremely beautiful "women" milling about.

Then, as if I wasn't already incredibly entertained enough by the freak show that surrounded me, one of the opening bands took the stage. The band was from the southside somewhere. I'm not sure where. For the last song of their set they broke into their signature song - "Cubs Suck!" Some Cubs fan in the back of the bar grabbed a Cubs picture off the wall and ran up in front of the band and as a sort of protest against the song he started dancing around with the picture. A couple of members of one of the other bands that was also from the south side wrestled the picture away from the Cubs guy and smashed the picture into a thousand pieces right there in front of the "Cubs Suck" band while they continued to play.

The Mexican transvestites looked on in horror while I went into a uncontrolled laughing fit that brought me to tears and I damn near wet my pants. Good stuff.
