View Full Version : Props and Stupidity as Jays announcers discuss USCF

You can prolly guess what the Jays announcers zeroed in on when they began discussing USCF last night, but here goes:

- They love the renovations. The colour commentator especially loves the roof and wouldn't stop talking about how they've converted generic big blue Comiskey II into a nice lookin', almost retro park. He said when Comiskey II opened, it actually reminded him of an open air Skydome! :o: (that was a bit of a stretch, but he really likes the park).

- Then of course, they began marvelling at how many people were there, as if USCF has a tradition of being deserted. It's amazing how vague perceptions can become entrenched reality (Hangar can prolly give a 3-hour seminar on this subject vis-a-vis the media, but anyway...) At least they were half-nice in their comments.

Wasn't there over 32.0000 last night?

32,162 paid to be exact. How is that empty?

32,162/40,615=.797x100= 79.1% of capacity, pretty empty to me.

Sorry, the Jays guys were marvelling because there were a LOT of people there, as if they were expecting to see 8,000. I believe the proper expression would be: "Drillrods!"

*scoots away from discussing the A-word any further*

Hope you were one of the 32,162 since you're discussing the "A" word.

Maybe they were marveling at attendance because the Skydome is always empty nowadays- especially when 10 years ago they would draw over 50K every night.

I just saw something on this today in the papers. The Sox are up something like 130,000 at this point compared to last year with 30 home dates left. It's the 3rd biggest increase in the American Legue behind I think, Minnesota and Toronto.

I listened to Toronto's radio team on XM Radio. For what it is worth, they were very complementary of our team.

I thought the EXACT same thing when first went to Comiskey.

Of course I also thought Skydome was 3 Rivers with a roof
