According to the Houston Chronicle, Jamie Moyer vetoed a trade that would have sent him from the Mariners to the Astros.
No word on what the Astros would have given up. Chris Burke has been mentioned in some possibilities with Houston. Moyer has a 6.79 ERA outside of Safeco this season, but he's still capable of helping a contender. Jul. 30 - 8:50 pm et

Hmm... does this open the door for the Yankees to acquire him now?

I don't think Moyer would be a great fit for the Astros anyway. That field doesn't exactly work to Moyer's strengths. I wonder what his reason was though. I think he probably wants to stay in the American League. That or maybe he was unwilling to go to the Bullpen if needed.

He might be thinking retirement. Maybe he wants to finish his career in Seattle?

Its got to be strange to have your team want to get rid of you, but you have the ability to say no so they cant, even though they want to. Maybe its just me.

I'm fairly sure he is thinking retirement but I know he has said that he would like to compete for a World Series before he retires. So I think he could be traded. Not entirely positive he would be though.

Good decision by Moyer. I wouldn't give up the opportunity to play with Jeremy Reed for a chance to play in the World Series.
