View Full Version : Is Timo clutch?

I just wanted to throw this one out there: why do some people still consider Timo to be clutch?

It seems like in recent memory every time he gets to the plate in a big situation he doesn't pull through. Worst yet, because of his reputation we stick him in important situations and it kills us. I know he has a decent RISP avg. but could that just because he has less AB in that situation?

Maybe I'm completely offbase and everyone is going to let me have it but I wanted to know if anyone else feels the same way - that Timo is overrated in the clutch.

I think he's clutch. It seems like he was only playing in tough pinch hitting situations until Spider-Dye & Big Frank's foot problems.

He's hitting a paltry 4-23 with RISP but my-oh-my, what a four hits they have been!

I think he's clutch, he'd be my pick to come off the bench if I needed a big hit.

His average as a pinch hitter is terrible, but he seems to really make it count when he comes through (i.e. Memorial Day vs. Angels). He's had some big hits.

Clutch? Not the guy I want coming off the bench to win a game, but he has come through nicely more than once this year.

It says here that Timo wins us one, maybe two games in the postseason. He has a proven track record (2000 Mets playoffs)

Although Timo rarely plays, it just seems that when the game is on the line, he will come up with a big hit more often than not. A few examples from this year are his game-tying RBI double with 2 outs in the 9th vs Oakland and a 2 RBI, 2 out bloop hit to win the game vs. the Angels.

Put him in the #4 hole!

And yes, he's clutch, considering the amount of hits he's had and the amount of playing time he gets.

IMHO, without stats...Timo, Uribe, and Crede in pressure situtations deilver. However, when there is no pressure they don't do ****. So yeah..they are clutch.

Timo needs to be upgraded before the deadline. He's weak.
