1B- Brian Anderson/Free Agent Signing
2B- Tadahito Iguchi
SS- Juan Uribe

Brian Anderson plays first base?

Eitherway, if Frank isn't healthy, we might be in trouble with that lineup, not much pop.

Here is my opening day 2007 lineup.

P - Mark Buehrle

In batting order...

1 - LF - Scott Podsednik
2 - 2B - Tadahito Iguchi
3 - 1B - Lyle Overbay
4 - DH - Frank Thomas (I also think he will still be here...I hope!)
5 - 3B - Eric Chavez
6 - CF - Aaron Rowand
7 - RF - Brian Anderson
8 - C - Aj Pierzynski
9 - SS - Juan Uribe

EDIT - Increased playoff revenue after 2 straight world series' allows us to have a rotation of...

Mark Buehrle
Freddy Garcia
Jon Garland
Barry Zito
Mark Mulder

IMO, AJ prices himself out of the Sox by the time he hits FA.

1B: Overbay/Huff (I think KW gets one of them this year or next)
2B: Iguchi
SS: Uribe
3B: Crede (I think Joe will be one of those "good enough" type of guys)
LF: Pods
CF: Anderson (From what I heard he's a great defender)
RF: Rowand
C: Olivo (seriously- I have no idea who'd be available at C, but I think AJ will price himself out by the time he hits FA)
DH: Frank/Dye platoon

SP: Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, Burnett, Gonzalez
RP: Cotts, Politte, Adkins, Munoz, Bajenaru
CL: Jenks

He's got a club option for $3.5M in '07, I don't think he'll be worth that much at that time, esp given his back.

I think (not hope) you are dead wrong. Mark has stated numerous times that he wants to stay here. Garland has stated he wants to stay here. They both want to stink together on the SOX. KW will get them both locked up. I confide in that.

How about a lineup of seemingly/mostly all rookies:

CF - Jerry Owens
1B - Casey Rogowski
RF - Brian Anderson
DH - Leo Daigle
LF - Chris Young
3B - Josh Fields
C - AJ Pierzynski
2B - Robbie Alomar
SS - Pedro Lopez

I believe AJ is arbitration-eligible, so he's still ours next year. He'll probably make $3MM or so.

C AJ
1B Dye

3B Crede
SS Uribe

CF Rowand
LF Podsednik

Bench/DH/DL: Thomas, Gload, Ozuna

SP: Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, Burnett, El Duque

That lineup may lack some pop- how much power does Anderson have?

And now, the starting lineup for your 2-time defending WS champion White Sox!!!

Leading off and playing LF: Scott Podsednik
Batting 2d, 2B: Tadahito Iguchi
Batting 3d, the 1B: Lyle Overbay
Batting 4th, at DH 2-time WS MVP: Fraaaank Thomaaaaas
Batting 5th, and playing CF: Ken Griffey Jr.
The 6th batter, 2006 AL ROY, Brian Anderson
Batting 7th and catching: A.J Pierzynski
Batting 8th, 2006 Gold glove winner, Jose Crede
And batting 9th, Juan Uribe

Starting pitcher is 2-time reigning AL Cy Young award winner, Mark Buehrle
(Other starters: Garcia, Garland, Burnett, Gonzalez)
Bullpen: Cotts, Politte, Mota, Greg Maddux, and closing: Bobby Jenks
Scary thing is that most of these names aren't all that farfetched, assuming a McCarthy-Marte-Contreras for Burnett+Mota trade, a Sweeney-Griffey trade, and a Rowand+Tracey-Overbay trade, all of which are feasible. Of course, the payroll bump required to do this may be too deep pink, but not if we win one!

1. :smokin:, or maybe a bit too much time in the Mexican league for ol'Joe.....

2. No! you never trade any player who's cheap, because they might end up developing into good players and you'd have lost a good, cheap player! Besides, there is no trade that gives you anything more than a dice roll's chance in the playoffs, so you should never give up any minor leaguer for any major leaguer!!Seriously - Nothing's a mistake if it gets you a title.

Have you heard of Prince Fielder? He's a giant man who hits the ball really, really far. He is the first baseman of the future for the Brewers, meaning Lyle Overbay will be expendable in the offseason.

LOL! On a serious note, I have no problem with the Sox doing whatever it takes to win a title now. However, more and more scouts keep comparing Sweeney to Rafael Palmeiro and Will Clark because of his left-handed swing. If his career turns out anything like either of those two (minus the Viagra and steroids, of course), the Sox should be happy. I think what happens during the remainder of this season will answer a lot of questions about 2006 and 2007. Perhaps management may look to change other things in the event that the Sox win the WS.

I only hope an upgrade at SS occurs, but if we're stuck with Uribe I'll be all right with that

to be fair to Uribe...

the man is on pace for 15 home runs and 81 RBI and plays great D.

Most teams would kill for that sort of production out of shortstop.

Last season, the only shortstops to have more than 80 RBI were Guillen, Young, and Tejada...

His average and OBP are terrible, but we could do a lot, lot worse.

Edit: This year, he ranks 4th among MLB SS in RBI with 50 right now. Like I said, we could really do a lot worse.

I just don't understand why KW would let a homegrown franchise player go so early in his career. Mark has already signed a contract extension with us, something he never would have done if all worry warts who claim he wants to play in St. Louis as soon as possible were correct. I assume when he wins 18+ games this year that KW will sign him to an extension along with Garlands.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I don't think so and I sure don't hope so.

Why? You can't expect them to get any salary relief whatsoever if he doesn't give up a top prospect.

I'm with all the others here that says screw the future, I want to win today and have a strong roster next season as well. I don;t care what kind of player Anderson is in 2-3 years from now if keeping him takes away from a chance to go deep into the playoffs.

Plus, I don't know about you, but I'm not very optimistic about Frank. He's hurt, he missed all of last season and the beginning of this season, and when he came back he was taking ugly swings at everything. I'm willing to bet just about anything right now that his contract is bought out next year. Because KW and Co. know that the fans are going to hate watching a lineup without one legitimate superstar, I can see them going after Griffey to kind of make up for that. Also, you have to trade Anderson over a guy like Rowand because I doubt Cincy will want to take on any contracts right now.
