Former Sox lefty reliever Scott Eyre was mentioned in the Tribune this morning.

I'm not really sure if the Sox are pursuing this guy, or if it's just brought up by the writer. Either way, he's having a good season and that would make a lot of sense to replace Marte with him.

I wouldn't mind seeing "Not Jane" back.

If Damaso was dealt, he'd be a welcome replacement.

Now that the Giants medics finally were able to figure out what was wrong with him.

Yeah, I also wouldnt mind him if Marte is dealt.

Anyone find it crazy how we are rumored to be involved in almost every damn player that is on the block? I dont believe Ozzie or KW for a second that we're going to stay put. Which means something's bound to happen somewhere, someplace. ---my best Stan Smith impression.:D:

Prepare the Tomato awards for this one folks...

This is a much better option than other teams' lefty castaways to replace Marte if he goes. Do it!

H'ed do if we lost marte. He ought to come cheap - like for Shingo and second tier prospect.

I think Dave Rhigetti is a pretty good pitching coach.

Ugh... If I never see Scott Eyre in a Sox uniform again, it'll be too soon.

Umm, look at his stats this year.
43.2 IP
38 K
2.53 ERA
1.88 Average against
10/49 inherited runners scored

He is definately an upgrade over Marte version 2005.

I'm with you doublem23. I saw quite enough of Scott Eyre when he was with the Sox. He is adequate in the AAA division (NL West) of the AAAA league (National) but he would get lit up again in the AL just like he did before in my opinion. There has to be better lefty options than Scott Eyre. Perhaps the Giants will part with Jeff Fassero?

He's a decent situational lefty who should be able to be aquired for a middle-level prospect. His post season experience is interesting:

11 Appearances
6 1/3 innings pitched
0.00 ERA
8 hits, 1BB, 2 Ks
Everthing's good except those hits numbers are high. Might have let a lot of inherited runners score.
