Don't have a link yet, but according to the Bottom Line on ESPN2, Buster Olney is reporting that the Padres have acquired Joe Randa from the Reds for 2 minor leaguers (no names released).

Checking for a link somewhere...

BAM! (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2114965)

Randa at third, Xavier Nady at first for San Diego.

FOJC rejoice!

This is in conjunction with the previous thread of the Pads shipping Nevin off.

Also, the Twins don't get him... that's good news, as from what I remember, he's a Sox-killer.

Oh yeah. He was a Sox killer as good as the likes of Omar Vizquel and Jim Thome. Nice they've all moved to different leagues. :D:

I heard the Reds were being stupid and demanding some high prospects for Randa.

Obviously that talk was dead wrong.

That's called being smart. They knew there was demand for him.

Does anyone have any info on the prospects SD gave up? I couldn't find much info on either one. I am interested to see how much the Padres gave up for Randa.

It seems like the Padres gave up a really good pitching prospect for him. That doesn't mean crap for the Reds, though. I am sure they will screw him up.

Oh well. As much as I have joked about Randa because of the way some treat Randa as if he is ten times better than Crede, I wouldn't have minded acquiring him for a backup role. He would have been nice insurance for Crede and provided a better option than Ozuna for days when Crede has to sit. It's not big deal though. I'd rather have Burnett, Schmidt, Wagner, Griffey, etc.

Anyone know much about Germano or Chick? How would they compare to guys we had to offer?

Somewhere, "you know who" is throwing a fit. He's probably in his room.

Good question. BA had them ranked 4th and 7th in the Pads' system, and said that Chick has the best FB in the system.

In any event, I'm sure they're <<< Sabathia, and the other BS rumors the media reported.
