View Full Version : TENTATIVE Info. on Patio Party

I just got off the phone with Kurt Hasenbalg, a White Sox ticket representative. Here is tentatively what the Sox have set up:

The date will be Thursday, September 8 vs. Kansas City Royals. Patio tickets will be $28.00 per person, a discount of $10.00. You will have the option of buying just a patio ticket or both that and a lower reserved seat ticket for $13.00 more, which is half price (total $41.00), if you don't have a ticket already for the game. You must have a game ticket to purchase a patio ticket. Food and drink, including beer is unlimited.

The patio party starts when the gates open and ends two hours later, at which time everybody has to leave the area for their seats (or wherever).

The groups invited will be WSI, SoxTalk, and the MLB message board group.

Don't try to call now, as they are not ready to take orders yet. They will be emailing me a flyer with all the finalized information. When I get that, I'll post here.

Hey mods, is there any way we can duplicate something like that here? If any of you know, PM me and I'll make arrangements with you on how we'll do that.

What the SOX are doing is great for PR ,weather it be word of mouth or the media gets a hold of how they are treating their fan base. I won't be going but it is great to see them doing this. Congrats SOX fans, Jerry is finally starting to deliver on the promise of a 1st class organization.

Does anyone know anything about guests? Or how they would know you're a member of one of those boards?

You are correct. We didn't discuss this, but from past experience with the WCSF, I know that the groups that have parties have a section of tables in the patio area assigned to them.

Shoot. I have Basketball practice for my college team then. Crap, I wanted to go.

Ah, there's still time to make it. If I can somehow get there it won't be until the game starts. Are we going to be able to get seats in the same location so we can still meet each other? Or will all the meeting and such be done in the patio party?

The way I understand it is that there is a section of seats reserved for the three groups. So a lot of mingling can also be done during the game. I may not bring my score book to this one.

This whole event is seriously, seriously cool. WSI and Soxtalk would normally be considered competition to the "official" board owned by the White Sox/MLB. In other words, every login to one of these boards represents a time a fan doesn't go and see one of the ad banners on the chisox.com site. Frankly, I am surprised Brooks could pull this off.

IMO the Sox most valuable signing = Brooks Boyer:worship:

Remember, the idea was Scott Reifert's. I think the Sox know that all of us on the various web sites represent what the Sox have named "the core of the core" fans. They know we go to as many games as we can, and all of our web sites have given the Sox nothing but publicity. And they know that's good no matter where it comes from.

The patio pass DOES entitle you to unlimited food and beverages (beer and/or soft drinks). You just go up to the guy at the tap and tell him whether you want MGD or Miller Lite. That's why you're paying the money for the patio pass.

There's not much of a way of keeping people who aren't regulars from sneaking in, if that's what you mean. If you're talking about bringing guests who are not official WSI members, you bet they're welcome. I'd like it if they actually lurk at the site, though.

My son is inviting some people from work. He tells me they all lurk here or at least are regular readers of the home page. Since they generally tell him they like my column, I said he should invite them. See what I have to say about all of this stuff in the official order form thread.
