these rumors are usually false, but I saw something on the ESPN Insider rumors about Larkin possibly making a return, anybody know anything about this

They mentioned it on Comcast SportsNet as well, during SportsDay or whatever right before the White Sox game. Jim Bowden asked Larkin to step down from his front office job to play SS, mainly because of Cristian Guzman's awful .189something average.

*sigh*

The Reds had to know that Guzman is one of the worst hitters in baseball. Larkin's not going to play anymore. The Reds made their bed. Now, they can sleep in it.

Come on, Larkin's bat speed at this point (after not having played all year) has to be terrible. Hitting in the cages isn't the same as hitting live pitching. I just can't see this happening.

Right, but Larkin works for the Nationals.

Bowden is smart enough to know that this is exactly the kind of story ESPN likes to latch onto and have some fun with. He's just feeding them some fodder to keep Washington in the forefront while the team appears to be going through some struggles. I doubt it actually will happen but it's fun for the talking heads to talk about it.

If he can get it, he's going to go after Julio Lugo from Tampa.
