I will be on Chicago Tonight on WTTW-Channel 11 to talk about my book, Chicago White Sox - 1959 and Beyond. Will probably talk about this season as well. I will be on between 7 and 7:30 and get about 10 minutes air time. Hope WSI people can watch.

Thats great ........ Make sure you mention how hard-core SOX fans really are
and were the best kept secret in this age of Superstations and TV Ratings

Good luck, I have class tonight so I can't watch. But please let us know how to get a hold of your fine effort.

Cool ! I'll watch it.

PBS !? What's that ? After I go get drunk (shirtless) at the bar with my fellow Sox fans and get into a fight, I stagger home to my trailer and turn on one of those tractor pull shows on T.V. Is that on cable ? We're not like those snooty Cub fans, most of us don't ever watch that high & mighty PBS.

Obviously Cub-lover Bob Sirott won't be doing the interview...

Dan, I finished the book about three days ago. Does Ella know she got in it talking about '59? If not, I'll bring the book to the luncheon for her to check it out.

I'll be watching tonight.

Since we obviously don't get WTTW off the satellite can you return tomorrow and give us a summery?

Looking forward to the 1977 book!

Ella probably doesn't know. I have not talked with her since the book was out. It would be great for her to see that. Thanks for the support. Hope to see at SoxFest or at the ballpark.

Dan,
The last time I watched WTTW was prior to Julio Cruz crossing the plate for the clinching victory. I saw the post that you would be on it, and my wife and I made sure to watch it. She liked the interview alot and so did I. I had a tough time looking at Sirot, just knowing he's a Cub fan. I look forward to reading your books and future books. Great job Dan!!!
Go White Sox.

First time at the computer since the show. Great job Dan. It gave me great pleasure when I told my wife, "Hey! I know that guy!"

Can someone give us an overview of the discussion?

I appreciate all the encouragement. Actually, I thought Sirott was fairly open to having a honest discussion on the Sox, and I enjoyed talking to him. I wanted to talk about so much more but I knew I didn't have the time. I wanted to mention that I was able to write the book partly because of WSI (thanks George) and how I used fan memories in the book. I will also do that in the future book. It was nice the Sox got some attention other than someone saying the club has beaten only the bad teams. And I was impressed how Sirott remembered Eddie Stanky and how he pointed out that the market is glutted with Cubbie books. The Sox have a much richer history than the Cubbies. They should be talked about more. And they are in first place right now, aren't they?

Dan,
I caught the replay late last nite and I just wanted to say great job. The books sound great. Im going to go on amazon later on and purchase the both of them. I know you said the 1977 book will be out by the end of the year and I also can't wait.

The books (both of them) ARE great. The only reason I didn't get to them sooner (I read both of them in the past 2-3 weeks) is because just before SoxFest, when I bought them, I started reading the 3000-odd pages of Shelby Foote's Civil War history.

Thanks for the compliment, Foulke You.
