Contreras did not have it going. I'm getting fed up with the inconsitency. I really really hope that we get another starter.

El Duque? I have no idea what to think yet. 4 ERs in 6 innings? I'd like to see a 4.5 ERA, max.

Any new ideas or anybody have any reasons for me to feel better?

Over/Under for "this thread sucks" tag?

He's been much more consistent than you think. He has given up 4 runs or less in 16 of 19 starts and 3 runs or less in 12 of 19 starts.

Hmmm, maybe our 62-30 record? Or our 13 game lead? Stop panicking.

Why does that have any relevance?

He's gotten to the 7th inning in 14 of those 19 starts, and it probably would have been 15, but he got hurt when he was dominating KC.

4 runs in 5 innings is a lot different than 4 runs in 7 1/3, but I feel better with what I just read about him making it as far as he has in many of his starts.

Wins/Losses don't mean crap to me unless the pitcher is constantly giving up one more run than the team gets.

Well you'd have to kind of guess that he's given up 3 or 4 runs in at least 7 innings, because his ERA on the year was just under 4.00 before tonights game. I think that's what he meant by the question being irrelevant.

I have an idea!!! Let's designate Jose Contreras for Assignment, so that the Yankees will trade us a prospect and cash, and call up Diaz/Munoz/Adkins to take his spot in the rotation.

Will that make you feel better??? No? Didn't think so.

The Sox are 13 games up on the Twins. The rotation is LEAGUES ahead of last season. Jose threw strikes tonight and got beat. Would you rather that he walked 17 batters instead? He threw strikes and they hit em.

Yikes..

I'm pretty sure we could get Carpenter and Clemens in 3 way trades involving the cubans Borchard and Willie Harris. I'm surpised kenny didn't think of this in the offseason.

:rolling: dude, it was his first day back from the DL. He dominated after the HR and kept the sox in the game. And Think about it, if he didnt give up 4 runs, there wouldnt have been such a great comeback for the sox!

Contreras is known as a inconsistent pitcher because he gets no run support. Tonight is an exception, and there are a few others, but he has kept us in a lot of ballgames that the offense would just not come through. He is a great #4 starter IMHO.

I didnt see the game, but I listened on the radio until 1 out in the top of the second. Contreras had struck out 4 of the 5 batters he faced. I was in a good mood, and I thought for sure he would flat out dominate tonight. What happened?
