I know all of us here at WSI have different musical interests, and I feel that this thread is a way to share them with one another. What, in your opinion should be the White Sox 2005 theme song? I think it should be the song "Baseball" by Indie Rock stars Ozma. This is one of my favorite parts of the song.
Can you still remember April to November?
You and I were members of the best team in baseball.

This thread is just for fun, there is no official theme song of the team. But what song could you see being played in the backgroun of highlights of Crede's defensive wizardry, Big Frank's bombs, Podsednik's stolen bases, and the rest of the guys celebrating the clincher on home turf.

There's gotta be something by Meatloaf we can use.

"I Can See Clearly Now"

That song makes me very happy. So do the White Sox. :bandance:

before the season I said it was gonna be "Hate it or Love it" By The Game

Hate it or love it the under dog's on top, and I'm gonna shine homie until my heart stops.

Now...
"If I Can't" by 50 Cent
If I can't do it homie it can't be done...

Maybe "Number One" by Nelly
I-Am-number one
No matter if you like it
Ready take this sit down and write it

The rest of the AL Central's theme song is easy though:
"Why Does it Always Rain on Me" by Travis
I can't stand myself
I'm being held up by invisible men
still life on a shelf when
I've got my mind on something else
sunny days, oh where have you gone
I get the strangest feeling you belong

why does it always rain on me?
is it because I lied when I was seventeen?
why does it always rain on me?
even when the sun is shinning I can't avoid the lightning

As has been their trend and one of their team-wide mottos, minus the several sweeps, "two out of three ain't bad."

"In the air tonight" by Phil Collins, maybe a souped up rock version of it. I feel it represents the feeling of impending doom every opponent of the Sox must be having all year.

They were playing the "new" theme a lot last night. That old 50's "Let's go go White Sox" song. It was great and the crowd really got into it.

That song is fantastic. Have they just started playing it recently? I don't remember seeing it the last few times I was there (except for last night, of course).

"Pour Some Sugar on Me" - Def Leppard.

No idea why but that song just popped in my head.

Brass in Pocket by the Pretenders

For any opposing teams... I'd have to say "thunderstruck" by ACDC... Very generic but right when it plays and the fireworks go off at The Cell everyone knows that the Sox are coming to take the MLB by storm.

"Killin' in the Name Of" by Rage Against the Machine.

Although I've always thought of "Thunderstruck" as the official Sox unofficial song anyway--what's wrong with that one.

I love how people are screaming "Let's go White Sox!" over it now at games...

Another One Bites the Dust by Queen for all the 1-run games that we play. I Disappear by Metallica because the Sox have been disappearing from the rest of the division with that 13 game lead.

LOL, that's the one I like but I believe you and I have similar taste in music. :D:

I like #3 but we'd catch too much grief using a song by Boston.

whatever it is, please NOT "Thunderstruck". It is one of the most generic stadium songs ever. I've heard it numerous times at Bulls games (the bulls are legendary for their canned music.) I've also heard it numerous times on TV in OTHER stadiums for other teams. Do we want something generic like that?

Oh by the way, it was also prominent on the commercials for The Longest Yard, and I'm not talking about the original. Do we want a song so generic and cliche that major Hollywood studios are using it to promote their latest Adam Sandler vehicle to the masses?

Either something new or I don't care, bring back the music from the 50s. Many Sox fans like me weren't around then so its new to us.

Something more modern and very far from the drivel known as "go flubs go" that I heard one or twice (to many!) in 2003.

"Hey Chicago what do you say the Cubs are gonna win :whatever:today... "

This is by far the greatest song. We need to learn the words, sing it at the top of our lungs, and be happy when the Sox win the WS.

End of thread.

Hoping and praying like most that this season is leading to something great, I've got to go with Zeppelin and "Stairway to Heaven."
