Newsday mentions Furcal may be traded when Chipper returns. I believe he is a FA after the season, but would be a good fit with the style of play. I think it would be a good move to add flexiblity to the infield with Crede's back. That and bullpen upgrade, ala Wagner and that would be it for me.......any thoughts?

Price to rent Furcal SHOULD be virtually nothing. AT virtually nothing, we could use a decent infielder.

No thanks, I'm not very impressed by Furcal, especially for a 2 month rental. I would love to get Wilson Betemit from the Braves though.

Why so anti-Furcal?

He's a .281/.344/.404 SS with a good glove, great hands, a strong arm, and ass-kicking speed. He'd be able to hit 9 and make for the fastest 9/1/2 EVER in the game.

I'd be interested in Furcal.

Oh, and by the way, he'd be a Type A FA, so we'd get 2 draft picks in compensation for losing him (assuming we offer him arbitration and he doesn't accept it).

The more I think about it, the more I'd DEFINITELY be interested in Furcal.

His stats look pretty solid, but as we know, Kenny puts together a team that is more that the sum of its parts. So, how does this (http://www.wjla.com/headlines/0904/172230.html) fit into the team concept? Although it is not the end all/be all, no dicussion of Furcal is complete without it.

That said, would I take him? If Kenny would make the trade, I'd trust him...depending on the price, naturally. :D:
