I'm gonna say that Adam Dunn has the best shot besides Bonds. He has monster power and will probably average somewhere around 40-45 HR's a year. He will have close to 300 before he is 30.

Alex Rodriguez.

He's 29 with 407 homers and still has alot of years left in him. If he stays healthy he can do it within 8 or 9 years.

Alex Rodriguez.

agreed. He's faster to every home run milestone than anyone before him...not to mention he's so much closer than Dunn

No way. Dunn doesn't have the consistency and has shown nothing that proves he can have the longevity of Bonds.

I think A-Rod could do it, but again, there's a reason that Aaron's record has stood this long and will probably stand for at least 10 more years.

how bout pujols? he's had at least 32 homers in every major league season he played in, oh btw hes 25 still and arguably the premier hitter in all of baseball. he has a great swing will hit 40-50 homers every season he plays in, IMO he is the premier hitter in baseball...i discuss this subject all the time with my friends "how good will pujols be" i think he will be one of the greatest players when his career is said and done. He will hit 60 in a season no steroids or cork needed. The only thing holding him back would be injuries, but i doubt it he plays first alone now.

griffey pre-injuries had the best shot...but what can ya do?

i think pujols can have 400 when he's around 28 and yes i bet he will be youngest to 400 and 500

But are we REALLY sure that Pujols has stated his REAL age?

He's got 183 right now and is 25. 217 homers over the next three plus seasons seems a little far-fetched, maybe by the time he is 29 barring he remains healthy.

Alex Rodriguez. He has monster power, is young, and I think he will be around for a long time. He will be closing in on 500 HRs before he is 32. Just wait until he is traded to the Rockies!

Has to be AROD. Consistantly puts up the home runs every year.

One of the reasons i say Dunn is because he is just 25 and is already gonna close in on 200 HR's before 27 and probably 300 when he turns 30.

So if A-Rod has 400 by age 30, and Pujols has over 400 by 30, what on earth makes you think Dunn will break the record when he so far behind A-Rod and Pujols? Dunn will not break the record.

I was going to say the same thing. I have a $100 that says he's about 28.

Yes he is. I know he went to college in Missouri somewhere and I'm pretty sure he went to high school somewhere there too. You don't get into HS as a 20 year old.:D: :D:

No one currently playing, there will be a phenom from another country in the next few years who will challenge and break it.

Born: January 16, 1980, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Full Name: Jose Albert Pujols
College: Maple Woods (MO) CC

Albert entered Fort Osage High School as a sophomore, a year behind others his age because he only spoke Spanish

Probably all of the 3 best hitters in the game the past 5 years will break it: A Rod, Pujols, Sosa.

If this season is any indication that Ken Griffey Jr. can still produce and stay healthy, he could have an outside shot. He's 35 years old and is at 521 currently after hitting his 20th HR of the season on Sunday. The other guy is Alex Rodriguez.

You've obviously never been to a Chicago Public League Basketball Game... I'd bet there are guys on some of those teams who have kids they are on the same team!
