View Full Version : *Official* Freddy Dominates Postgame Thread

That was a sweet first inning. Nice to see a pitcher who normally owns us have trouble finding the plate. Especially that dropped third strike wild pitch to keep the line moving.

Great offensive job by subs Ozuna and Widger, and thankfully no defensive lapses.

Freddy was in the zone! :D:

Twinkies losing 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th, let's make it 11 games :bandance:

pitching was awesome once again. Freddy struggled with his control the first few innings, but yet again he settled down and threw well the later the game wore on. Bullpen was great too with 2 perfect innings from Cotts and Viz. Let's get win #60 tomorrow :supernana:

So nice to see a dominant pitching performance combined with a pretty dang good offensive performance, especially from the bottom of the order!

These kinds of losses have to be demoralizing for the Indians!

Let's win tomorrow and go for the sweep on Sunday!

what is our magic number now?

65, pending the Minnesota result.

We are well on our way to relegating the Indians to the wild-card race. With Buerhle and Garland going the next two days, we have an opportunity to put the final nails in the coffin for the Tribe's hopes in the division. Let's bury 'em right here this weekend.

I wonder how that Tribe troll who was hanging around here in early June feels right about now. I believed he warned us that "objects in the rearview mirror are closer than they appear." I can't even see Cleveland in the rearview mirror at this point.

If you get a break like that, you take advantage. That's what the Sox have done so well all year. We don't have an overpowering offense, but we do have an opportunistic offense.

Haven't I seen this title on a post-game thread before? :D:

Anyways, you can't find a more solid victory than tonight. Freddy pitched great yet seemed a bit uncomfortable on the mound. It was great to see the offense take advantage of the dropped third strike on Crazy. Very clutch by Aaron and Widge. Also, although it is worrying to see Joe sidelined again due to his back, it's great to see Ozuna step in with a four hit game.

Keep it going.

I have to admit that this series worried me a little bit as the Indians, who played pretty well in June, probably felt that this was their shot to get back in contention. But now our pitching has held them to one run in the first 2 games and our 2 aces are going the next 2 games. Let's put this team away.

The strong Cleveland offense has scored one run in two games, and Garland and Buehrle have yet to throw a pitch? Wow!!!

Great job Pablo, but did he try to steal third with TWO OUTS and the bat in Frank's hands? I was giving the kids a bath and half paying attention. If so, not the smartest of moves. But anytime he wants to have a four hit game, I'll give him a pass for that.:D:

Good Viz has been around often of late

Add a mix of 2002-2003 Damaso Marte and little sprinkle of 2004 Shingo....And oh my that's a damn good bullpen

Hell, add a nice dose of Wagner to that mix and I'd say we have the best bullpen in baseball.

Good Viz gets 2 strikes with the mid-90s fastball, then drops down that slider for strike 3. His slider is nasty when he can set it up with the fastball. Not as good as K-Rod's of course.

I'm a little worried about Crede's health.

He always seems to suffer from weight loss in the 2nd half of each season and now this back problem.

I have been a strong basher of Crede on other boards but I have come to realize that his glove is very important to this team.

I think his health is going to force Kenny's hand and he will probably have to make a deal he really didn't want to make in like getting Randa or Vizquel ( to move Uribe to 3B).

If we had to pick one upgrade to get before the deadline, I think it would be another Starter, and a top of the line at that.

But now, it appears IF help is the way to go.

Anyone else feel that this series is payback for the mid to late 90's series we would have with Cleveland? How many times in '96 or '97 did we have some momentum going into Cleveland and feel that we would take 2 of 3 or 3 of 4, only to be smothered by them? It's nice to be on the other end this time. We've finally exorcised the ghosts of Thome, Nagy, Alomar, Lofton, Vizquel, Fryman, Williams, Mesa, Fernadez and on and on.
