"You can strap it down, strap it up, as long as you don't strap it on."

DJ said this after Hawk read an e-mail that asked what He meant when he says strap it down and when Ditka used to say strap it up.........naturally DJ's comment left Hawk speechless. I think this happened 7-10-05 against Oakland.

I heard it and laughed out loud. Sometimes I think DJ forgets he's on t.v. and not in a bar. That line was hilarious though.

Hawk's reaction: "............"
Hilarious! That one might be in the running for Quote of the Year... :D:

I wonder if Hawk realizes that half the things he says sound just as bad (i.e. "ride 'em hard..."), even if they're not intended that way.

I've never been a DJ fan, but recently I'm enjoying his humor.

I guess I've definitely been fast forwarding through too many of the emails and responses lately; I missed that one. Hope someone puts up the sound file.

Yeah I heard that one too and thought of WSI. I expected someone to post about it eventually.

as vague as it sounds, i want to say it was sometime during the middle innings 4-6, but i do remember hearing DJ's quote and was wondering how that got on the air

Just to give everyone the context of his quote, they were reading emails at the time and Hawk was reading one that said something like this...

"Hawk, can you please explain to me where you came up with the saying 'strap it down?' I'm a 50 year old heterosexual and I have absolutely no idea what you mean by this"

Anyway, that made Hawk laugh a little bit and he started explaining how Ditka used to say it. From there it led to DJ making his comment.
I was laughing my ass off and I knew it would show up on this board.

Not sure what inning, but maybe the context will help "santo=dorf" find the quote and post it.

I too heard DJ's and Hawk's exchange, and thought about posting it up here, but didn't because I thought it would get Roadhoused. :o:

That was perhaps one of the best lines I've ever heard on TV....

Definitely good times. I was going to say something about it on here but forgot. I remember thinking, "i wonder how many people understand the full context/meaning of this line?"

:roflmao: I had a similar concern. I debated whether or not to explain it to my wife - before deciding against it!
