A little early, but I'm a little excited about seeing our Sox reps. Unfortunately, I have night school which I can't miss, so I'll be firing up the old VCR.

Rumor is that first pitch is scheduled for 7:40 after all the pregame stuff

Was wondering, does anybody hope that the game is close late in the game so Pods can be used in a SB situation? Not sure who the pitcher would be, but the NL Catchers are eaily runnable (word?) on.

I probably won't be able to catch the game until the 3rd inning or so which stinks since I'll miss Buehrle. Hopefully I can get a look at Garland though. I'm hoping for at least 1 out of 2 between Konerko and Pods. I'd rather have Pods get out there due to the fact of all the work we put in getting him there. Anyways, lets go AL!

This is the first time in ages that I've actually looked forward to an All-Star game. (Although a large part of the reason for that is I want to get it over with, so we can get back to the really important stuff, like knocking the rest of the league around.)

Don't know if I'll watch the whole thing, but I'd love to see the AL absolutely smoke the NL! Like maybe 27-2.

Anyone know if/when/where they will be replaying the All-Star game? I'm gonna be in class, so I have to miss it, which kinda sucks.

This is one of those times when it pays to live down here in the Valley of the Sun, aka the Phoenix metro area. True, it was 112 degrees today, but the All-Star Game comes on at 5 pm. And we have AC, so ***.

Flip side: December, when the Bears game is on at 10:00 am. Although if I have to, I can deal with beer and pizza in the am. Cold pizza is, after all, one of the best breakfasts possible. And the years spent going fishing in Wisconsin at 5 am. have rendered me capable of drinking beer just about anytime!

GO AL! AND GO SOX!!!

Mike North said this morning that the NL was going to win because the AL did not have pitchers that blow hitters away. He said that Buehrle and Garland do not throw the ball hard or strike guys out so the AL will lose. Because the AL doesn't have Johnson, Schilling, Pedro, Clemens or the like they will lose. The best pitchers aren't out there. The NL is so weak it's not funny. This game will be a blowout.

I love the "God Save the Queen" and "Oh, Canada." (Too bad they didn't sing "Oh, Canada" tonight. One of the few good moments about 80s WGN Cubs games was getting to watch and hear Wayne Messmer sing "Oh, Canada" before Cubs-Expos games at the Urinal.)

Anyway, this is not a political statement, but musically the "Star Spangled Banner" just isn't a very good song. Francis Scott Key wrote the words to the tune of a drinking song! Only the extremely gifted or the extremely drunk have three octave vocal range.

Typical Buehrle inning. Gives up a couple cheap hits, gets a double play, gets out of the inning without giving up a run or a walk. So efficient. If Buehrle somehow gets 300 career wins, it's going to be because he protects his arm by pitching smart.

Thinking back to PK's last all-star game and how he was such a line drive, doubles machine. Now he's become this bopper, sacraficing avg. He used to hit .280-.290, now .260 is a stretch. I just think he's a better hitter than this. He's turned into Nick Esasky.

Telling us about Paulie's 38 homers last year?

saying bling bling?

My point is why don't media at least wait until the team is .500 or better before they start touting them for wild card consideration. In my opinion it cheapens the playoff spot if teams that have losing records are being highlighted as playoff contenders.

Yeah, I basically agree with you on that. Certainly teams below .500 are not out of contention at this point, but I'll agree that they shouldn't be highlighted as playoff contenders at this point either.

I guess Scott's new nickname will be, Scott "Moonlight Graham" Podsednick.

Oh well. Good showing by the Chi Sox.

It's ok, we'll just have to vote Scott in to start next year.

With Wickman in, I guess Pods will be batting in the bottom of the 9th.

Pods better at least be in the field right now.

Lets get Pods in as a "D" Replacement and see a flashy play to keep the NL from taking the lead, thus winning the MVP award.

If Jeter got in instead of Pods, when do you think he'd have gotten into the game?
