I just thought it would be cool to let everyone know that more and more, there are people wearing WHITE SOX shirts and ball caps all over the country. I travel quite a bit, and this year i've noticed the heavy increase. Obviously, it's because the SOX are the best team in baseball. You could argue they are bandwagon fans, but, really...that tends to happen more regionally and AFTER a team wins a championship, it becomes national. Either way, people wearing the SOX logo, is free advertisement; so, how can anyone complain?

GO SOX & GET PODS IN!!! (would it be great to see pods lay down a pinch hit bunt in the ninth, steal 2nd, steal 3rd....and score the game winning run, on a Paul Konerko SAC FLY, giving us HOME FIELD advantage for the World Series...oh yea!!!

I work for IDOT and travel everyday to a different chicagoland area each day. I go to naperville, kanakakee, gurnee, batavia, etc etc everyday and have seen the same. Everywhere I go now i see more people with sox apparel more sox stickers and logos all over, more sox novelties at every place i go for lunch. Its great the cubbie hype and bandwagon is dwindling and the real chicago team is starting to dominate the scene. At least outside the tribune!

Well, since I seem to be shooting my mouth off much more than usual today, let me add that Sox gear is showing up all over the place out here in Arizona as well. Of course, they do train here, but that's in Tucson and I live in the Phoenix area. I see people at the stores, the casinos, everywhere. Also, I went to a local sports bar during the Suns playoff run and spotted a guy in an old-time (genuine) Sox shirt. I had my Sox hat on, so naturally we chatted and he told me that the owner of the bar was a diehard Sox fan as well.

Shoota, Maurice, you guys got a problem with dat? (Rhetorical question.)

   :gulp:

My buddy at work is a die hard Orioles fan his entire life.. every time I see him after a Sox winner, he says "Man Chicago's gonna be tough to beat this year!" It makes me happy that he refers to the team as Chicago.

I almost always wear some kind of Sox apparel or cap on the weekends here in Nashville. I was wearing a Sox t-shirt Saturday as I ran some errands, and I had someone remark about the Sox literally everywhere I went. It shocked my wife, as it has never happened before. I rarely even have ONE person say anything, much less the four or five people that commented Saturday.

I was down in the Keys a few weeks ago and the turn back the clock night we went down to Key West after the stunning come from behind win. I had my Sox hat on and was walking down Duval street to see a group of guys in Sox hats. One guy sees my hat and goes "southside!" then we talked about how awesome the game was and how great this season is. Always great to see sox fans all over the country.

i have worn my sox hat every day since opening day (i'm hoping to wear it wire to wire, i think my woman is going to burn it when she catches me napping) and i have been getting mad props all over the state of MI, including at a Wilco show in Rochester Hills. (rack jeff, wonder if he's a sox fan).

there isn't a better exchange than:

"nice ****ing hat."

"FIRST PLACE, BITCHES!" (to nearest flubs fans in view)

While not exactly outside the Illinois area, I live in the Quad Cities and myself and one of my best friends are Sox fans, and I have recently seen my neighbor, among others wearing Sox gear (on both the Iowa and IL side of the Mississippi). Also, while I was down in Florida working for three months I worked with and also ran into no less than 10 Sox fans in the Cocoa Beach area, so there are some of us out there that don't live in the Chicagoland area.

I was in Provincetown, MA this past week, and ran into someone wearing a 59 Sox cap. It was a breath of fresh air among all those thousands of Red Sox caps I saw.....Still hard for me to find sox t-shirts in town, tho. In the early 90's they were everywhere. I even saw more Marlin shirts for sale in New England, than White Sox!

I see Cubs hats all the time in Alaska. A lot of cruise ship passengers come off the boat in Cubs gear. I'm still waiting to see a Sox hat that doesn't come from my apartment.

I Live in Rockford. Saw a sign at a bar watch all SOX games here. Our pizza delivery guy had a SOX hat on. Invited him in to vote for Pods since we were voting on line and he took us up on it. My mom and nephew live in Oshkosh WI and the local news had the SOX tonight. Nephew coming down this weekend when they play the A's for a game.

It's funny that you mention this...

In department stores in Iowa there are three teams; cubs, cards and twins.
Last week I was in Paul's Discount in Iowa City and they had some SOX stuff for the first time ever!
Naturally I purchased a few items.

Are we seeing the beginning of a trend?

I'm a local gal myself (Des Plaines), but with all this talk about seeing more Sox apparel, I had to comment.

I was up in Crystal Lake on Saturday at their 4th of July fair (or whatever it was) for the Sister Hazel concert. As I was laying on our blanket just people-watching before the concert, I was simply amazed at the amount of Sox hats, jerseys, and t-shirts I saw people sporting! I've NEVER seen that much Sox gear in one public place before (much less in the north/northwest suburbs)... other than the ballpark or SoxFest! It was definitely a pleasant sight to see!

I have about 50 hats in my office -- and I fly about 10 different Sox hat variations and an awesome wool 1917 Sox pennant. I also have the Cubs CF scoreboard from the Marlins/Cubs NLCS game hung prominently -- my boss is a lackluster Cubs fan -- I moved from Chicago in 2000 when they were lighting it up, bt everyone assumed I was a Cubs fan -- now they know.

I was at Summerfest for the Tom Petty concert on Friday and saw literally dozens of people milling about in White Sox gear. True, a lot of them could have been people from Chicago, but it was still a great sight to see.

I go to school in Gainesville, Florida but I am from the Chicagoland area. Every time the Sox are on WGN me and a couple of my buddies take over a corner of the bar to watch. There are quite of few Sox hats roaming around, I even saw one on the head of University of Florida QB Chris Leak (dont know if he is a fan)

Go Sox :gulp:

I was in Cincinnati/Northern KY over July 4th and was wearing my SOX hat and got several thumbs up and high fives. People in the Tri-State simply DO NOT like the Cubs.
