He Gawn!

The Long Island Ducks, members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, today announced they have released relief pitcher John Rocker after the lefty reliever decided to take a step back from baseball.

In 23 appearances with Long Island, Rocker went 0-2 with a 6.50 ERA. The former Atlanta Brave allowed 18 hits and 28 walks while striking out 19 batters in 18 innings of work.

Baseball will be better off without him. He won't be missed.

Hey, we could use a lefty while Marte is out.

Too bad. I was looking forward to seeing him when I go out to see a Ducks game in August.

Wow. He had a little more than a strikeout per inning, but a WHIP of over 2.50. That's pretty awful. How he had an ERA of "only" 6.50 is something I'd like to know.
