Scotty is on the ballot for the All-Star Final Vote.

I know you can't vote a ton of times, but let's try to do this!

Pods is up against Crawford, Jeter, Hunter, Matsui. It doesn't look good.

Um...is it just me or was I able to vote multiple times with the sam e-mail addy? It gave me the option to "vote again" right after I voted, so hey...vote early and vote often!

After thinking that it would be Jeter, I am convinced that MLB will make sure that Matsui will win the spot. Otherwise, the international homerun contest will be lacking and they'd have to invite him anyway.

I will vote my fair share of times, but it will be next to imposible to take out Jeter. ESPN.com is begging the fans to get the vote out for Jeter with it being the lead story on their homepage. It says....

"David Ortiz got the most love. Derek Jeter did not. Jeter could still be voted onto the American League All-Star roster, but he needs help from the Final Man ballot to reach Detroit."

What a joke.

First thing is that, I am doing that and a number is coming up, but it was the previous code so I am guessing that those votes are either not registering or something is awesome about your system currently.

Next thing is, about three years ago (or less) this board had a few computer guys crack the computer code to get the numbers to come up perfectly every single time, is that in the works this time too? I think we did it for Frank Thomas (who lost to JAson Varitek) about three ago...am I wrong?

At any rate...can we get somebody to work on this?

My first thought when I saw this was that Pods is screwed. Pods up against Jeter. I didn't think he had a chance. But, I have kind of changed my mind. We can't single-handedly defeat Jeter and the Skanks fans. But we have one chance. We need the Yankee haters on our side. Having Matsui is a good thing. He'll take away votes from Jeter and give Yankee haters one less option. That leaves Pods going against Hunter and Crawford for the votes of Yankee haters. The problem is that I think the Yankee haters would lean toward Hunter.

All of this means one thing. If we're going to get Pods in, we need the help of Red Sox Nation! If all the Yankee hating Red Sox fans support Pods, we have a good chance.

Vote, vote, vote. And someone get the Red Sox fans to help us! I'm sure they'd love to see Yankees fans lose and Jeter be left out of the All-Star game.

If we can beat out the entire country of Japan, it would be amazing! They definitely need to change the all-star game and have an X amount of fan representatives and then manager/player selections and then managers selecting the lineups. I wish the starters who didn't deserve it would excuse themselves from starting, but I don't think most of them would.

This is what Red sox fans think about Our Sox.
A Sox ALCS would be insane, awesome, and just...beautiful. Two teams that know what they're talking about and can talk about baseball intelligently. I know how hard it is over there in Chicago in the past years with the Cubs..but now all the talks on you http://www.talksox.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif. Also, White Sox fans are better than Cubs fans...I went to a game at Wrigley once...all most of their fans do is drink beer, curse, drink some more beer, curse, then get drunk and get kicked out of the stadium for getting out of control. White Sox fans know where their loyalty stands and are smart. I mean, you can tell because of the past years with the Cubs "success" (for lack of a better term), but W. Sox fans stayed with their team.

Anyway, I wish Clement was an all-star, but you must be happy he's doing well in a R. Sox uni as opposed to a Cubs uni http://www.talksox.com/forum/images/smilies/grin.gif.

From Scott Reifort's blog:

Not me, Podsednik ...

Scott Podsednik is one of five American League players eligible to be named as the 32nd player to the All-Star Team via on-line balloting. Since you had to be pretty computer savvy to even find this blog, you are our demographic.

If so inclined, please go to whitesox.com, mlb.com or espn.com and vote for Scott. His competition is Torii Hunter of the Twins, Carl Crawford of the Rays, Derek Jeter of the Yankees (yikes) and Hideki Matsui of the Yankees (double yikes).

Maybe the two Yankees players will split the vote, so I think we have a chance here if we can just out-vote the nation of Japan.

On the flight back from Oakland last night, our players were talking about getting behind this effort to try and help Scott make the team. One thought was t-shirts saying "Vote for Scott," a la Napoleon Dynamite, but voting closes at 7 pm Wednesday and it's tough to find a t-shirt manufacturer on July 4. If anyone out there knows someone, call me. Our team would be happy to wear them.

We are going to try and hook up a laptop in the dugout so that the entire team can vote for him before taking the field for batting practice.

Anyway, do whatever you can, wherever you can. This being Chicago, vote over and over again ...

That's pretty cool to hear. Maybe they should just skip batting practice and head over to a library to use that time voting for Pods.

RE: EVERYONE READ THIS

Pressing alt + left (essentially the same as using the BACK button) might not be a good way to go about voting, because the previous vote may not register if you keep doing that. The voting link on mlb.com automatically fills in your last information if you simply click the "Vote Again" button, so you're not really saving any time by using alt+left, and you might be making votes that don't count.

Please do it the right way to make sure we're not just wasting our time.

After the 4th of July game Mark Buehrle got a mic and a camera man to put him on the scoreboard and made a announcment to the crowd to have everyone vote for Podsednik, he told the fans to vote as much as they can because Podsednik derserves this. I thought that was a really cool thing for Buehrle to do.

yes...I was there, and I agree that that was a great idea by Buehrle/The Sox. Only problem was...like 1/2 of the fans had left already because it was so late . Still, a great gesture.

Ya, I was at the game last night. I also thought it was a great idea for Buehrle to go up there and ask the fans to support another teammate. They put up a msg on the scoreboard at the beginning of the game to remind fans to vote.

Keep on voting!

In the American League Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees, leads the group of five candidates for the final roster spot, with a slight lead over Scott Podsednik of the Chicago White Sox, followed by Torii Hunter of the Minnesota Twins, Hideki Matsui of the New York Yankees and Carl Crawford of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Done through about 30-35. I've been mixing my NL vote around between Hoffman and Oswalt. Has it occurred to anyone that maybe the Japanese vote won't go entirely to Matsui? I mean, Pods plays on a team with two well-liked expats, which gives him visibility in that demographic (I think) plus he has a very unique and exciting style... if anyone goes to Japanese-language boards, what's the word on this? Maybe we can swing that vote too...

I'm going to do about 40 an hour today at work and get my coworkers voting. Yeeeeehaw.

I kind of wish they didn't release an update until the end. The reason being that I'm sure there were probably some Yankee fans who assumed Jeter would win easily so they didn't vote. Now that they see it's close, they might start voting. Hopefully it has the opposite effect. Hopefully all the Sox fans who didn't vote because they figured Jeter would win easily will now start voting. And if you didn't vote because of that reason, shame on you. You've cost Pods precious votes because you assumed. Now get to voting because you have to make up for lost time. As for everyone else, keep voting! Let's defeat these Yankee fan bastards! If you haven't voted yet, do it! It's not hard. I've figured out that it takes me 7 seconds for each vote - that being from the time I click Vote again until the next time I click Vote again. It might take others longer. Still, you sacrifice just a few hours of time between now and tomorrow night and you can easily rack up 500-1000 votes. Let's also hope that all the Red Sox fans who were previously supporting Hunter now decide that Hunter is a lost cause in defeating Jeter and start voting for the man who is right behind Jeter; Scott Podsednik.

BTW, new rule at WSI, if you don't vote for Pods 500-1000 times, you are banned for life. :D:

After one day of balloting, New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter leads the American League voting by a hair over Chicago White Sox outfielder Scott Podsednik.
Rounding up the bottom of the ballot (in order from most votes to least) are Torii Hunter, Matsui, and Crawford.

Sox fans, we CANNOT let another Yankee into this game (more importantly 4 WS on the roster would be a lot more sexy!)!!!!! If this race really is as close as it seems we need EVERY vote from you guys! Since there is no limit to how much you can vote I have probably cast nearly 300 votes this morning...why havent you?

MLB.com has a release this afternoon saying Podsednik is in second in the "Last Man" vote, a "hair" behind Derek Jeter.

I just voted for the past 30 minutes at work...Lets keep at it and get Scotty in!

I woke up around 11:15AM this morning. Turned my computer on around 11:30AM. Saw this thread and started voting from 11:35AM-12:05PM, non-stop. I timed myself a couple of times and averaged 9.5 votes per minute. So in that amount of time, I voted about 285 times.

If you think about it, if we can all just spend the next two days voting about 2 hours a day, we can tally up a bunch of votes. Say 100 people average 8 votes a minute and vote for 2 hours a day, today and tomorrow. That equals out to 192,000 votes! If 1,000 people do that (a stretch, I know), that equals out to 1,920,000 votes! It's just two days in a year and if Scotty wins, you would have to feel great about yourself considering we are all a major part of him making it.

So don't stop voting fans. I don't care if you've voted 10 times or 10,000 times, we have 2 days left, keep voting! Let's get Podsednik to Detroit!

Don't do that. Just put in the real number to make sure the vote counts. Just because it doesn't reject the vote, that doesn't mean it is actually accepting the vote.

BTW, I know people have said it here, but how do we know for sure that voting is unlimited and that you can vote as many times as you want with one email address? I didn't see anything about that, but I might have just missed it.

Its just ESPN's poll. It says at the bottom that 87000+ have voted which means, even if it does count, its less than 1/40th of the entire votes. I think its just quicker to do it on MLB and you're not bothered by the Yankee-S-P-N bias.
Tack on another 100 for the last 20 minutes of work. Hope my boss doesn't find out he's paying me to vote for Scott.

Are you ready for one final vote?

The rosters for Major League Baseball's 76th All-Star Game are just about set, but it's up to you to take care of the "just about" part.

Since most of the suspense has been eliminated and the starters and reserves for both leagues have been revealed, it's time for the voting public to rev it up one more time with the 2005 Ameriquest All-Star Final Vote, available exclusively at MLB.com and all 30 club sites.

Now in its fourth year, the All-Star Final Vote gives baseball fans around the world the opportunity to select the final player on each All-Star team. Balloting began immediately following Sunday's Major League All-Star Selection Show and continues until 8 p.m. ET Wednesday. The winners will be announced at MLB.com and on ESPN shortly thereafter.

So, voting is only at MLB.com and club sites. Winners will be announced on ESPN, but you can't vote at espn.com.

Last year a Phillies fan sought out our help to get Bobby Abreu voted in as the final representative on the NL All Star Game. Here's the link:

http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=36403&highlight=abreu

Abreu made it.

Its time to return the favor. Scott Podsednik deserves nothing less than all of our combined efforts. I couldn't find a Phills site to ask for their help, but maybe one of you knows about one. That speach Burly-mon made after the game July 4th was inspirational on a Knute Rockne-like level. Let's get this guy to Detroit.

There is no way MLB would allow ESPN to have the votes count. That is a Sportsnation poll; it isn't anything official. In addition, ESPN wouldn't be showing who would be leading for each league; that destroys the suspense. And, there's no val. key, which is the giveaway.

We may be in the best situation right now. Being in a close second we're all working harder and Yankee fans may get a little complacent. Looks like Matsui's gonna be a non-factor so lets just hope that other fans will come around and vote for Pod because of the anti-Jeter sentiment.

Let me be the first to hope against the conspiracy theories that MLB will just give it to Jeter anyway because he's already the star in all of their ASG commericals.

There's a link for the official MLB vote on the left side, it takes you away from ESPN to the 30th man page at MLB.com. This is totally different from the Sportsnation poll we were talking about.

Espn also has links to purchase games on mlb tv, so they technically can say "to vote (or watch today's game), go to espn.com or mlb.com" even though there's only one place to vote.

How many votes do we each get?

I've voted *a bunch* for Pods, and it hasn't told me I've run out of votes yet.

Given that one can Vote Early, and Vote Often, shouldn't the representative of Chicago be a lock..?

There is no limit to individual votes. Keep voting!

Vote Early, Vote Often

This kind of voting was made for Chicago, it is in our blood.

One of their guys is trying to swing they NY fans to vtoe for Scott because the All-Star team needs speed to win it, and since it counts it will help NY get homefield advantage for the World Series.

Guys, this is easy.

The Flash application, if saved onto your computer and opened into Flash is just an application that generates random numbers.

The "vote has been accepted" is not deceiving- if you put in the wrong number.. say a 1, the vote still counts. There is no way anything can tell what that number was at the time of the vote. No possible way. I said this last year.

All you have to do is press ALT + <- after you vote and it will take you back to the same settings and votes and number (all you need is a number). The one thing they do to catch you is re-check the option to add you to their mailing list after you vote. So unless you want to uncheck it you get added to their mailing list.

I did make a webpage without the mail options- www.whitesoxwired.com/votenowbitches.htm

I can pump out about 50 votes a minute this way. All I do is enter the information, vote, DO NOT MOVE YOUR MOUSE, keyboard ALT + <- and click vote again. Just keep repeating this process and the votes will start to amount rather quickly.

I can do this while watching the game. Watching the screen out of the corner of my eye to see when it has loaded, then press the appropriate buttons.

Good luck and go Scotty!
