I'll drink to that! :gulp:

BTW, I was at the "last" birthday in '90 when Andy Hawkins had a no-hitter and lost.

It really did look so much better without that white paint.

Happy Birthday old friend! :gulp:

 I may dig out that broadcast tape from July 1st 1990 this weekend and relive that fun game. Was much more fun in person that day and it was last minute decision to go and glad I did go.......

:gulp: Let's sweep the A's this weekend!!!:bandance:

95 years of baseball at 35th and Shields!

I can't wait for the Chicago media's coverage of this impressive milestone!

Yes Happy Birthday to one of the greatest parks ever built. I was also there in 1990 when Hawkins threw the no-hitter. I don't remember much of it, I was only 8 years old at the time. I still have that black sovenoir bat that they handed out.

Aww. I'm sorry you never got to see it. It was a great place if you didn't have a post in front of you. I went 7 times and that was all in 1990. I miss the old place, but I am growing to love our current home.

This was a really great interview with historian Richard C. Lindberg, who wrote the White Sox Encyclopedia. It's clear that he loved the old park. If they archive the audio, I'll put up a link.

In terms of the past and the present, I'd use Hyundai instead of Buick... but that's just me. :)

Btw, the color pic you posted has been added to my collection... thanks!

When I first saw this site back in 2002, I scoured every link... but you've convinced me that I need a refresher course. :redneck :gulp:

Old Comiskey.....used to go to games when the Sox were really bad (ie. late 70's, late 80"s) just to BE there. A buddy and I were talking over the weekend...we went to Sox/Blue Jays DH in '78 or '79....if was right after some concerts were held there...and 2/3's of the outfield was sand...no grass...just sand....

With the all the changes/improvements to the Cell....I'm starting to develop the same affection for the new place...

To the grand old girl...:gulp:

That is the coolest picture I've ever seen. Just one guy in a suit walking down the street. It's amazing how empty the area was.

I miss you 'ole Comiskey! You were my summer home in high school (the Veeck years in the 70's), I was there more than I was at home. I, too, was at the Hawkins losing no-hitter game, strangest game I've ever been to!

I miss all the nooks and crannies of the park, something the new Comiskey will never have.

Whenever I go to a game, I pay homage to old Home Plate, let it remember it's not forgotten.

I think I became a fan of the Sox at old Comiskey Park. My dad used to get free tickets when he worked at Scot-Lad foods in Lansing. We probably went 2 or 3 dozen times up until we moved away when I was 8. Never had an obstructed view  .

Man I loved that old park. I have some plaster I peeled off my last game I attended and I have a seat back of one of the seats. Unfortunatly I saw a lot of losses at Comiskey. I went to one where Luzinski hit a roofer off Oil Can Boyd. (Sorry for those that now know that for the 100th time) No, I'm not sorry. I went to the 5th to last game against Boston. THe Red Sox had loaded up the bases in the 9th but they lined out to THiggy. THe sad part was my uncle wanted to beat traffic and I had to listen to Na Na Na Na from outside in the parking lot... :whiner:

My dad took me to my first game there. And I went to many there. I have some memories there, but they are getting thin now. All of my main memories are at our current home.Happy Birthday!

I have an old seat, a brick, and a 35mm film cannister of warning track dirt from Comiskey Park I.

Happy Birthday, Baseball Palace of the World. Gone but not forgotten.
