In 1995 why did teams not play a full 162 game schedule. I was looking at that years standings and noticed some teams played 145 other 144 and thats it. Kinda strange. Does anyone know why this is?

The work stoppage from 1994 also took a small chunk out of the 95 season.

And it took an even larger chunk out of the Sox in 1995: ace manager Lamont didn't have the sox anywhere close to being ready to play the regular season, when it started.

Sox ownership also took a monster chunk out of the team. For 'cost' reasons McDowell was traded to the Yankees for three nobody's and Julio Franco took his 99 RBI's to Japan when he and the Sox couldn't agree to a deal.

Then Ron Scheuler signed such All-Stars as John Kruk, Chris Sabo, Rob Dibble, Dave Righetti to make everyone forget about losing McDowell and Franco...trouble was they were FORMER All-Stars.

Anyone else remember watching those spring training games with the replacement players?

I remember the Sox had this huge softball player looking dude at first base.
I would have loved seeing them start the season with those guys.
