A) Was this a good move by the Yankees, cutting 2 aging relievers

B) Who will pick them up? For that matter, who is desperate enough to pick them up?

So does this mean the Yankees are going to trade for an entirely new bullpen? Weird moves over there lately...

Well that was all hype.

Given Marte's arm issues I don't have a problem with the Sox taking a look at Stanton. I mean the Yanks will still be paying the bulk of his contract, how much can he cost for three months?

Someone with pick up Stanton. I know his overall numbers look bad, but Stanton has killed lefties this year. He could be a fine lefty specialist. For that matter, if Damaso Marte is going to be out a while, I wouldn't mind seeing Stanton picked up to replace Walker. As long as Stanton is used in a Kelly Wunsch type role, he could be a decent reliever.

I can see the Cubs, Dodgers and Reds using them.

Both of these guys will be on major-league clubs by next week. Stanton has held lefties under .200 BA and Quantrill is probably just worn out from making 86 appearances last year and being 36 years old now. He can still be effective enough for the Reds, Giants, Rockies, etc.

Stanton should be picked up by the marlins almost immediately as a lefty specialist I think. Quantrill might get a shot from the Dodgers or has a trip to AAA Iowa sometime soon.

If the Yankees are seriously about fixing the team, they need to fix the outfield. The problem is the entire organization caters to Jeter at the expense of doing whats best for the team. A-Rod is the better defensive shortstop, he should be playing there. Jeter would be perfect for playing center field. As a shortstop Jeter has problem getting to ground balls, mostly the ones that are hit to his left. What he does excel at is grabbing fly balls. At least Jeter can't be any worse than Womack or Williams out there. This would instantly make their middle infield and entire outfield stronger. If the Yankees were truly dedicated to winning as the organization claims, they would've approached Jeter with this a season ago.

I'll second this motion. I wouldn't mind seeing this happen at all.
