??? Why is this dude moving up fast? His numbers certainly justify a one level bump, but from A to AAA?

He's been in A ball for six years.

IIRC, people on these boards have said he is 25, going on 26, and spent the majority of his career in A ball. It seems only natural that given his age and numbers in A ball, that he be given a shot in AAA. Not to mention, if he does well, it could mean a promotion to the big leagues as a sorely needed backup.

He's been in A ball for six years. So this is a sink-or-swim promotion? It doesn't seem likely, but could they be trying to hype him as trade bait?

It's possible, it worked with Mike Morse.

Where's Daigle gonna play? The Knights are absolutely loaded with career minorleaguers who play the corners and DH.

IMHO, the bigger question is: why is Spidale being subjected to a 2-level drop? He did fine at B'ham last year.

Morse is in the majors. He may not be a great player, but the Sox didn't overhype him.

I didn't say they did, but they did promote him to AAA a month before trading him, and he was another player that spent a long time in A ball.

I got to see him play last year for the Barrons right before the trade and he reminded me of A-Rod. I too don't understand the 2 level drop for Spidale :?:

Morse progressed 1 level at a time, never once repeating a level. Not to mention he was only 22 years old last year and never played in AAA.

Comparing him to Daigle is way, way off. Morse was a legit prospect.

The most logical explanation is that there's zero room for him in AA.

Young, Sweeney, and Owens are all better prospects than Spidale. He'd ride the pine in Birmingham...

But there's really no room at any of the top 3 levels. The organization is loaded with OF. He was platooning with Biko at Charlotte, B'ham is packed, and W-S has had 4 regular OF since Amador stopped playing 2B. Why not just assign Spidale to B'ham and let him take some ABs away from Blakely?

I guess he'll just get more at bats in W/S. Spidale really isn't a top prospect, so I don't think that they'd want to create more of a logjam in Birmingham.

Maybe he and Borchard changed bodies?
