Was musing through Peter Gammons' most recent column, and turned this up:

" Twins GM Terry Ryan says, "we're just not playing very well right now. It's our defense. We're doing things fundamentally that we ordinarily don't do." Ryan is convinced the pitching will be fine, but with Michael Cuddyer (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6637) continuing to struggle, the GM's looking for a third baseman. Joe Randa (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5298)? With the Reds having rookie Edwin Encarnacion to play third base, Randa is a possibility to be moved."

No, I think they have bigger problems than defense. For the first time, I think I can say that they are having chemistry problems.

I've been hearing this rumor for weeks, I'll believe it when I see it.

Nah...they've been having injury problems. They have great chemistry, from what I've read in the St. Paul papers. It's injuries and the starting pitching not being as sharp as it was last year.

I was glad to see Joe Randa leave the AL just so he wouldn't have to play against the Sox anymore. It seemed like he ALWAYS kicked Sox ass when he was with KC. I hope he's not coming back to the AL to join the Twinks.

I said when the season started that losing the left side of their infield would hurt more than everyone thought. Their starting pitching is two deep (Santana, Radke) and Nathan has come down to earth. Santana won't have a whole season like his second half last year and thankfully Morneau cooled off. I hope we put them away by mid-August.

A Gammons pondering about the Twins picking up a slightly above-average player has you worried? Don't be.

On the other hand, I expect a concession thread from White Sox Josh pretty much anytime now.

I agree. I hope that the Twins don't get him because he's one of the biggest Sox killers out there. Good thing Carlos Beltran ended up the NL too.
