What are some of your favorite "Hawkisms", besides "You can put it on the board" and "He gone". A couple of mine are "stretch!" and "right size, wrong shape".

I'm actually done with the "stretch." He's been saying for any ball past the middle of the outfield. Right size, wrong shape is a good one though.

Paulie needs to bow his neck.

"souvenier, right/left side"

I agree that "stretch" is getting a bit tired.. it just seems like it never actually manages to stretch, per se.

Didn't a lot of the player's nicknames come from Hawk too? E.g., the Commander, One Dog, the Officer, Big Hurt, Little Hurt, Black Jack, the Panther, etc.

That's probably my favorite.

Another Hawkism, "Come on, Willie. Ball four - base hit." Not a Hawkism, but I got a good laugh when he was ticked off at Boers and Bernstein and referred to them as Burns and Boerstein. Hawk is a one of a kind classic.

That's my favorite, too.
Hawk also never misses an opportunity to say "Two on, two out, two balls, two strikes" when the situation calls for it.
He had a great call on Ramirez's grand slam Saturday: *crack* "... and it's a four-nothing ballgame."

I dont know if this was said but...

"double-barrel action"
"outfield straight up, as they should be."
"well hang-woof 'em for Aaron."

Also, when a noted hitter comes up to the plate, Hawk makes his presence felt with his tone and meaningful phrases that makes you fear the hitter at the plate. it ,akes the game more interesting. I remember when Edgar Martinez used to come up and Hawk would pay him his respect. Also when Manny Ramirez comes up, he talks about how smart of a hitter he is and how he analyzes pitchers uniquely. You just don't get that broadcasting anywhere else.

That ball was scalded

Stay fair, it will!

So Sit back, relax, and strap it down

Whoever pointed out that when a new afiliate is brought on board and he says "we would like to welcome all of our viewers on Mediacom in Hodgkins Illinois, Hodgkins...Yeess" this is a great one and I find it hysterical that he welcomes new Sox viewers.

One more thing, did Hawk come up with the idea of a pick to click?

:andy
I love the Hawk

"He's gotta cinch it up."

Either that, or "hunker down."

I love "the cat-bird seat," when hitters have a good count on them. Usually 2-0 or 3-1.

Stretch will always be an all-time fav of mine.

My favorite was on Mother's day a few years ago...

"(brief pause) ... Just wanted to take moment to wish my beautiful wief, Aris, a happy Mother's Day. Happy Mother's day, Baby... (extended pause)... I LUUUUV Mother's Day."

"I know you do, Hawk."

I know it says besides "he gone" but I'm from Louisiana and I don't get to catch many games so it's the main one I know

I caught myself using it at work once when I sent an irrate customer away. Of course, no one else knew what it meant:rolleyes:

HE GONE!:D:

"Me and the caddies at Ridge Country Club are gonna go with ________."How do you get him to get your ptc in?

I wanna do it for the caddies at midlothian country club.

skottyj242
06-29-2005, 01:25 PM
I have no idea, I caddied for him like ten years ago at Ridge on like a Wednesday then I was watching the game on Saturday and he pulled that one out of the bag. He uses it every know and then I'll notice, I know he's really good friends with a couple of members at Ridge and he plays there alot so maybe if you get him to play at Midlo he'll give you a shout out.

EastCoastSoxFan
06-29-2005, 03:12 PM
The hardest I have ever laughed at Hawk during one of his broadcasts was when, referring to a pitcher with a funky motion, Hawk said, "His arm is dangling back there like a participle."

Ozuna38
06-29-2005, 04:21 PM
yeah he says the me and the caddies at ridge cc thing because he golfs there all the time :P If you can get him to be a regular at midlothian then maybe he'd do the same. I never caddied there but a lot of my friends have and they say he was a class act, always brought a ****load of McDonalds breakfast for them and whatnot.
