I recently read the Sox let him go. Was it just because he didn't have the control, or other issues?

Control? I just don't think they saw any kind of future for him. I don't know if there were any other issues, but he only threw in the high 80's and didn't really posess an effective breaking pitch.

This is the Brian Miller who was drafted from Charlotte HS in Michigan (emphasis on the -lotte, not the Char- like the big city), right? I was always kind of interested in him because I grew up in Lansing, to which Charlotte is very close.

Yea, I grew up near Charlotte also, in Potterville.

Brian dated my cousin and they still keep in touch. So I try to follow his career, or lack there-of. ;)
