Rooney or Farmer mentioned we'd been in first every day? Is this true?

I swore at the very, very beginning we were down a game or so? Maybe we were tied?

Cool... thanks guys... I was too lazy to look it up...

I suppose one of the other teams in the AL central had a 2-0 start? But not 3-0?

Nope, in fact, if I recall correctly, the Sox were the only AL team to start 3-1. Everyone else was 2-2 with one team at 1-3.

Who would have thunk then - even the most optimistic of us - that the Sox would be looking to notch their 50th win on June 24? :gulp:

Sox were either tied for first or in sole possesion of it until April 17th. They took the lead on the 18th and haven't looked back. Sole possesion the whole way.

A more interesting question is how long have they had the best record in all the majors...

While listening to WGN I heard another thing I didn't realize either. They said the White Sox was the first to 10, 20, 30, 40, and now 50 wins. I knew about 20, 30, 40, and 50 but I hadn't realized they were the first to 10 also. Great season...let's keep it going.

I remember looking that up about a week ago and I believe we took over best record in baseball from the Dodgers for good around April 24th...

EDIT: I went back through time and checked and we took over the best record (from the Cardinals) for good on April 30th.

This is not true and I was surprised to hear Hawk say it on TV.

On April 18, the White Sox were 9-4 and the LA Dodgers were 10-2

At least I know I'm not going crazy then. I had a feeling someone else beat us to 10.

Wouldn't that be nice. How often does a team go wire to wire to win a divison?

My guess would be that it probably happens once per decade on average...

I would imagine the 2001 Mariners and 1998 Yankmees pulled it off

They were talking about that on the radio last week. I think they said it happened three times. 2001 M's, 2003(?) Giants, and IIRC a team 40 or 50 years ago.

2001 Mariners did but the 1998 Yankmees did not. They started out 0-3.
